No, I am not overreacting here. I should speak out against racism more than I do. The clip showed racism yes but I believe it's message is something Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson would dream up. Want to really see racism at work - look at Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson!

However, you asked me if the shoe were placed on the other foot, wouldn't I be just a little pissed off? The answer I give you is no, I wouldn't. I am Jewish, I grew up with memories of relatives with numbers tattoo'd on their wrists, meaning they were Nazi concentration camp survivors of the Holocaust. I ask you, shouldn't I be just a little pissed off at Germans??? The answer is no, I am not, by by your measure I sure as hell should be. Mr. Bunko, I am not, nor ever have been, nor has anyone in my family been responsible for slavery and rampant racial discrimination for the century after slavery was abolished. While this is a tragic part of American history, and I regret it deeply, but I am not going to apologize for it and wring my hands in regret. It's sickening, it happened, but it's LONG in the past... I say "enough". We should never forget these sad chapters in our history I might add, but racists and racism comes in all forms and from all different people. If anything, the commercial highlighted that fact. But, I have been attacked, physically assaulted for being a Jew. I remember those assaults, I fought back, but got beaten badly on at least two occasions. I remember it, but I am not traumatized by it. I was taught as a child to respect ALL people, regardless of race or religion. To me, racism of any kind is horrifying.

Bangee5...... I totally agree with you. The Sharptons and Jackson's of the world are profiting by keeping the "racist" message alive and thereby excusing some pretty sorry facts about race, and crime in America. To dljen, who decries "racism in America"... like this was something unique to America and Americans.... to that I get offended. WE Americans did not invent racism on our own. It was brought here by previous generations of Europeans mostly who actively participated in it for many centuries of human existence long before the USA was formed. Guys like Sharpton NEED to keep racism alive and well even where it may not exist. Sharpton is a race baiter of the worst sort... Jackson is a profiteer who enriched himself handsomely with methods that amount to out and out extortion. America did not invent racism, and those who believe so only need to read up on countries like Brazil who find that to this day, their black population has a higher unemployment rate and is discriminated against, despite being considered one of the most racially open countries on earth.

Ray, you have no ideal the meaning of that verse. I am to judge racism least I become racist myself. I am to judge racism when and where I see it. To not do so is to condom it, a far worst sin than to judge, in this case too discern right from wrong.

xx You don't have to justify yourself. My comments were general & trying to hilite why the blacks are pissed off. Plain & simple!
Two other points worth mentioning:
Point 1: I think it was a Portugese Airlines advert & chances are, the Black fella wasn't American Afro. I see Banger getting all defensive about American racism. I think he's a little US Centric. It's not all about America.
Point 2: it was a funny clip hi lighting racism both ways.
Firstly the whitey didn't want to sit next to a black. Racist against blacks.
The outcome was to upgrade the black to first class. Racist against whites
Problem solved, racism neutral. A strong lesson about respect for fellow humans, black, white or brindle.
There is soooo much over sensitivity from many here on the hog.
The racist woman ended up with egg on her face.

Very good video. Here is something else to consider. First. racism is flat out wrong. But what do blacks do about it. (I don't like the phrase African American). 70% of black children have no father in the house. Murder rate is sky-high, Less than 40% have High School education. highest % on welfare etc.etc. There has never been a Government in history that has sought to eliminate all the blacks in the world and in fact rounded up millions of them and gassed them to death. The Jewish people have been discriminated against throughout history. Even today there are governments that seek to murder every Jew on the planet. I know of no country that has as it's creed to drive ist neighboring black country into the sea. That having been said what have the Jews done about it. They have forged the only democratic country in the area. The Arabs and Palistinians that live in Israel have more freedom than any muslim nation. They educate their children they have very little crime As a group the Jews in the US are far more sucessful than blacks. There is antisemitism in the US but I do not see Jewish leaders on TV or on the radio screaming ANTI-SEMITISIM every time a crime is commited against a Jewish person. Why are the Jews so successful in the US. Strong familly structure, emphasis on education and strong moral character, In short strong Judao-Christian values. The Blacks would do well to emulate.

Don't take it personally.
I don't like racism but I don't wallow in the doom & gloom that is often being quoted here. If one can't see humour in any subject, then it's a miserable existence.

You are so right, Bunko. What was intended to be a short video showing how one person's prejudices were handled has turned into why it didn't explain the entire history of racism. I'm shaking my head, where is the sanity here?
