These were all taken on the SX50 but at the "wrong" time of day, noon-1:00pm. I used several modes (P, A and Manual), as well as different ISO's apertures and shutter speeds. Both macro and normal modes were used on the flower shots. All shots were hand-held with Image Stabilization ON.The EXIF data for each shot should be visible on the Flickr link. Questions/comments?
Sincerely,
Lee

Excellent shots, Lee. I have an SX 50, but not the color in my back yard that you have in your back yard.

Great series! The SX50 is a truely amazing camera---not to undermine your talent as a photographer. I am sitting here with 2 very capable Canon DSLR's and several expensive lenses and sometimes wonder why I don't sell them all and buy an SX50 and simplify my photography life.

Nice shots. There is a group on flikr devoted to sx50 users if you feel like checking it out. Lots of great pics on there.

Just what I did. Booked a trip to Hawaii and didn't want to lug the Nikon and lenses around. Bought the sx50 and was amazed at the ease of use as well as the incredibly light weight on the trails. Gave my Nikon to my wife.

I peeked. It seems everyone gets marvelous shots with the SX50 except me. I can't seem to get a good picture to save my life. Were you shooting off a tripod?

Thanks for your note. Don't be too hard on yourself. I throw away lots of soft, fuzzy images. These were all shot hand-held with Image Stabilization turned ON. I have used the SX50 on a tripod when doing still life shots indoors. I also use a cable release when the camera is on the tripod. Learning how to use Manual focus can be a bit of a challenge but it does offer you more control than relying on the autofocus in the camera.
Sincerely,
Lee

I haven't used my tripod with the sx50 yet. I've been able to get good shots offhand even out at full zoom but I do have to really concentrate on holding still. Make sure your image stabilization is on.

I have the SX50 and like it a lot, but I have never been able to capture as clear a shot as Regis (use Search, she is a regular here) does with her Tamron 150-600.

She has posted some beautiful work. The SX50 can't match a Tamron $1,000 lens but it comes pretty close with lots of practice. 8-)

I agree, but what should I be practicing?

I would practice learning my camera setting (changing ISO, aperture, shutter speed and white balance) as well as learning how to use the autofocus points ( I prefer using the center). Manual focus is great for still-life shots using a trios but is a bit too cumbersome for shooting any kind of action IMHO.
