I received some info on this site to copyright your photos, I went to the web site, and downloaded the forms, I read them and the wife read them {she is the brains of this operation} and it appears that you have to copyright each photo. is there not a way to copyright or register your logo/name of photo company??

I think you are asking about registering your photo's as the copyright is there when the picture is taken - ???

It is recommended that if you are going to put the photo's in a commercial or art gallery environment or post them on-line (anywhere but your own website) and do not want others to profit from your work, then you should register them...
If you are not going to put them "out" there, there is no need to register.

I don't yet publish/post my photos so I have not registered them but that is a personal decision. If I decide that I want to publish/post/sell/make money off of my work, I will definitely register them and apply copyright watermarks.

If you want to register them, you can batch register to save money -

Hope this is what you are looking for...

First don't go to any website other than www.copyright.gov.
You can do the entire process on line and you can upload literally hundreds of jpegs as a zip file under one copyright, which they accept.
You don't need to send full resolutions files so you can reduce their size so that you can print a 2x3 photo that's recognizable.
Once you do it, you'll get a written copyright in the mail but the photos are considered to have a copyright, the moment you upload them.
Websites other than the official government website will only charge you extra fees to do the same thing.

I'm not a lawyer and my guess would be yes - this is based on the terms and conditions of Facebook.

From the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities page: https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms

" 1. For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (IP content), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (IP License). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it."

You need to read the fine print on any site you are thinking of posting on. It is boring, go to sleep reading, but, it is a necessary evil to protect yourself and your property...

Forgot to mention that the catchall they have on this is in the last sentence - - what it means is that as long as someone in the Facebook realm has a copy of the property - the agreement is still in affect...

Remember - once posted to the internet - it is in someone's control forever...

IF you have your own site, you have control over your property and IF you have registered the property correctly and in a timely manner, you have a better chance of redress if someone highjacks your stuff...

For more enjoyable reading on the subject, you can select search in the top menu links and put in copyright - tons of info and discussions on this subject - something to do on a rainy day...
