I picked one up a couple of weeks ago - haven't been able to use it much yet so when the grandkids came to town this week, I took them to the zoo for a photo shoot. Used auto mode to test it out - I discovered shooting through fences can skew the focus but other than that, I was pleased with the results...
Here are a couple of shots. I resized with a 50% factor to reduce the image size (from 7Mb to 2Mb) but no other post processing - I put the focal length in the description to give you some perspective...

What a surprise my wife just came home with a get well present for me a Sony DSC-HX300/B Bridge camera, she says she does not want me lugging around my heavy pack for now but still wants me out getting good photos, what a gal. I would not trade her for anything. Looks like a nice camera nice heft to it 5oX zoom, 20.4 mp, lots of bells and whistles will try and get out a bit tomorrow and try it out. I am excited what a nice present. Anyone have one of these they use?.

Terry44, you have a great wife indeed, but mine is also great. She tries to take as much pressure off me as possible. When we got married 55 years ago, we reached this agreement - I would make all the major decisions in our lives and she would make all the minor decisions. So far there have been no major decisions to make. What a relief for me to never have to spend my time pondering which choice to make in the grand scheme of things.

Very nice I cant wait to give it a try, I like the idea of the extra mp so that I can make larger prints to hang, it sure has a nice feel to it, it is the first Sony I have had I am excited to give it a try
