Graham, I love your work and look forward to your postings. Frankly there is nothing to criticize with this image. I thought maybe B&W but only for a fleeting moment. Color enhances this capture and I really don't believe anything could be done to improve the image. One thing I do know is I would not want to sit thru a 2 hour sermon on those chairs. Thanks for sharing this image!

Beautiful as always. I just don't know why you keep putting your images in this section. Every one of them I have seen are just amazing. Why do you think you need critique? Why not just put them into competitions or online forums for viewing or stock agencies like 500px to sell them? These files are too small and limited technically to critique at 100%, and that is your next step. Do you have a Flickr or other site page? Would love to see them on Flickr or anywhere they are actually large and rich enough to appreciate.

I for one hope he doesn't stop posting them here for critique. A wise man said recently, "The only way to know what world class photography is is to view world class photography."
And has been repeatedly said critique does not necessarily mean negative it can and should also be positive. By presenting them here for us to critique he is teaching the rest of us to think and to learn how to subjectively view photography.
And believe it or not there have been a few of Grahams images that I didn't think were spectacular. It helps to be able to look at them and figure out why.
:D
The Definition of Critque:
1 cri·tique noun \krə-ˈtēk, kri-\
: a careful judgment in which you give your opinion about the good and bad parts of something (such as a piece of writing or a work of art)
2 critique transitive verb
: to express your opinion about the good and bad parts of (something) : to give a critique of (something)

CM, I could not agree more. I not only enjoy viewing Graham's images but also learn a lot from critiquing them and reading others thoughts on his photos. So how does one learn to subjectively view a photo, you said it best, study Graham's photos and try to critique them, you will certainly learn from this experience.

Hello Giugly01, I do upload pictures to 500px
http://500px.com/graham16 but do not sell them. Photography is my relaxation in my retirement, to sell pictures would introduce a "work like" element to my hobby. I've done with work :-)
You speak of my next step, my next step is to carry on as I am, learning and having fun.
Competitions are just not my style. I get most of my satisfaction from visiting wonderful places and from meeting interesting people, and of course, photographing them.
Why do I post here? I get an enormous amount of very useful feedback, critique from photographers who's skill levels I can only hope to attain. When I post a picture, to get any reply, positive or negative, is good, I learn from it. Even if a picture gets no comments at all I still learn a great deal. To get positive feedback is a bonus. One more reason that I like to post my pictures here is that I like the folks that frequent this place... well most of them ;-)

the composition, leading lines, and your use of ambient light...just enough and not too much of it, conspire to result in this incredibly affective image.
As several others have noted, the story of this seat of spirituality is articulate,,,palpable. it seems, somehow, more ancient, a bit of research has proved, than its mere 200 years. It was built in 1817, but on the site of a chuch originally built in the fifth century. I cannot help but feel that Clachan's builders were strongly affected by the site's roots in the "auld Celtic Kirk" ...the original Christianity of the " Celtic fringe" long before Roman Catholicism gained sway,
This image and its inherent evocation of spiritual and cultural history, could not help but profoundly move even the heart of this confirmed secular humanist.

Thanks, Nightski, for emphasizing recognition of the two sides of the coin of critique!

Looks like the seats are designed well to keep parishioners from falling asleep. :-) My good old dad could have used seats like that.
Excellent shot...Perfect color and lighting...Makes you feel like you could just walk right into the room...Thanks for sharing.
Graham, another great photograph and it is all that everyone said about it, but I believe it falls short of being the best it could be! Some may not agree, but if you included the peek in the photo you would improve this image ten fold by adding all those great angles and lines that you all ready have working for you! If you crop the present image at the top of the beam you can clean up those unfinished lines. These are just my thoughts.
