Another car show

My grandson and I went to a car show which was a fund raiser for the Hot Rod Club at his high school. Some really great rides, along with really average. I decided to focus on what I thought was the iconic view of that auto. On some, I think I succeeded. I have also started playing with the concept of "one camera, one lens." I used my d7000 and 50mm 1.8. Any comments are welcome. By the way, these aren't the kid's cars.

I actually prefer photographing isolated portions of classic autos, as you did here. While full body pics are always pleasing to auto buffs, sometimes it is nice to emphasize the artistic curves, colors, or the massive chrome sculpting of vehicles that far outshine the cookie-cutter styles of current autos.

I think they are very good. They give a unique perspective and let us look at the cars in a different way.
Everyone takes the same old photos and they are good but I like these better.

The reality is to photograph the 3/4 angle of a car then pick out a particular item say a chevron taillight, or hood ornament for close up. Some times a super engine makes a good subject.
That 58 Chevy has beautiful taillights and massive chrome bumpers that make good pieces to shoot. I owned one. That odd angle is not appealing.
A car as an abstract piece of art? Takes a lot of practice.
I am sure you can do better than this.

Number three brings bad a lot of memories. I had one of those, same color when I was in high school. Wish I still had it.

Great shots buckwheat! Each time a member posts shots from a car show, it makes me want to go to the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona that much more!

When IO go to a car show I look for interesting things like hood ornaments tail lites door knobs ext, and generally not the whole car..there are all kinds of little things that when isolated in a pic it can be very interesting..even a fender can be very cool. This type of photography I call Car Art and it can be allot of fun and challenging too. I love car shows and will be attending one in May. Oh yeah, I too use one camera one lens, generally a wide angle because I can get very close in very tight quarters..

Thanks for ALL the comments. We enjoyed ourselves, which was the goal, and we both got some good shots. Grandson uses my d70 with a short zoom. I chose the 50mm 1.8 specifically for the shallow depth of field, and to force myself to MAKE the photo, as opposed to TAKE. On the d7000 crop sensor, it was a challenge
