Just to my eye, I like that the railing at the bottom is on an angle, and I like the hint of green from the leaf on the left.

This morning I was able to capture a fairly nice shot of a squirrel with strong backlighting. I decided to play around a bit in PSE12 with the image to try some different effects. I put up the original shot again and the doctored shot right after for comparison. Please critique to your hearts content. I am still learning about this post process stuff. Please try the downloads and thanks.

Like both of them Jim, prefer #2, only suggestion I could make would be to level the shot out. Notice the board the squirrel is standing on.

The original photo looks good. Maybe a simple white vignette may help.

The white vignette ties in nicely with the highlights and the white fur of the squirrel plus obscures somewhat the slanted wood board it is sitting on.

Your welcome. Anytime you think I can be of assistance,
please let me know. A lot can be done in PP, but you want to keep it at a minimum, otherwise it won't look natural.

I love the first shot of one of my favorite animals, Jim. Although I know nothing about pp, the second one doesn't seem as good as the first.

Thanks Sue for stopping by and the nice comment. This was more of an exercise in what constitutes good PP than anything else. My process shot was way overdone, but I am learning. Thanks again.
