MOST fonts have the © symbol that can be copied, doesn't have to be a 'symbol' font.

I agree, but the © in the symbol font seems (to me) to be one of the neater and clearer ones. It will also reduce in size quite a bit and still be readable.

If you use Alt + 0169 the © picks up from the Symbol font.

You are a font of information!

You need a numeric pad for the Alt+1069 to work. My laptop doesn't have a numeric pad. What I did was to plug in an old Dell desktop keyboard that has a numeric pad into my laptop and it worked perfectly.

It is also possible to purchase a separate numeric keypad that operates either on Bluetooth or via USB.

The Alt + 0169 does NOT automatically use the Symbol font. Try setting up a document using BrushScript and then do the ALT+0169.

However, MANY of the individual fonts 'copy' the © from the Symbol or Arial fonts.

i am taking a online class for photoshop elements 12, we got to the part to register photos, i was supposed to hold down the fn key and type in a supplied code and the "C", did not work! any suggestions?

Make sure you're using the Number Pad, and not the numbers above the keys. That only works when using the number pad over on the right.

Check out this link, it shows you the character map already in your computer and how you can add it to your tool bar and access it with one click.

Yes Searcher, that comes in pretty handy once you have it created. It's saved in your 'brushes' in Photoshop or PS Elements, then all you need to do each time you want to 'brand' your photo is select that 'brush', and click on your photo wherever you want it. Of course, you can create the '©' followed by your name of choice. When I use it, mine says "© Guiseppi" Works great.

Think outside the box in a pinch, find one and cut and paste it or google is your friend!

On Mac
Option (alt) - g = © ,
Option (alt) r = ®,
Option (alt) -2 = ™

simply placing © is not really registering your copyright, to fully register you must file with the copyright office (US copyright office: http://www.copyright.gov/forms/formva.pdf)

That come up with page not found...

hahah... I was going to say, instead of worrying about how to type it, why not just copy and paste one from here? There are a bunch on this thread already... :)
