These are really spectacular. I particularly enjoyed seeing these because I've seen these sights and can almost pin-point where you were standing when you took the photos. Wish my "snapshots" had been half as good. Thanks so much for sharing these.

Victoria the capital of BC. Canada is a great place to visit, great gardens, very British, if you ever have a chance, don't miss it.

Great photos. Thanks for sharing.
Visited there after our Alaska cruise a couple years ago.
Great place. In addition to the city and Butchart Gardens, we took a whale watch tour and saw some Orcas. And I got a shot of a lighthouse on the tour with the Olympic Mts. as a back drop. One of my favs. Would love to return.

Thank you so much Vicky. It's a beautiful place, I drove there a few times from here, but later on I flew to Seattle and rented a car. A few weeks ago while at Fioli's I met a women who knows every garden on the west coast and she stated Butchart was her favorite by far, I had to agree.

Thank you very much Dave. They built a new terminal for cruise ships and it is a stop now for liners coming out of Seattle. Glad you enjoyed the place, you had enough time to do all that?

Thank you very much, I think it is the premier garden on the west coast.

Great images of a pretty area. I have been there before and if I had to choose another country and city to live in, then it would be Victoria.

I was there last August. We did NOT go to the gardens as there were 3 cruise ships in and they were a zoo. A local pointed us to the governor's house. Its gardens are gorgeous and there are no people!

Our Alaska trip started in Fairbanks, then Denali, then the cruise out of Seward and ended in Vancouver. Then we took a float plane to Victoria and stayed only a couple of days.
Would do the whole thing, with some variations, again in a minute. Thanks again for your photos (all of them).

Thank you very much Regis. Victoria is sort of like Florida to the US, many Canadians retire there, it also has hardly any winter weather.

Thank you very much for commenting. There are many other sights, but when you from a cruise ship time is limited. I always stayed three days. The BC museum is outstanding also.

... and expensive!!!! Don't go in for afternoon tea thinking it will be cheap BUT it is an experience.

The architect was Francis Rattenbury who was also the architect for the Legislative building. Cheers, Mark

I did many Alaska cruises, the bad part is that the most scenic places are traveled at night, like part of the Lynn chanel and the inside passage. It's ok in June -July with all the daylight, especially if you have a balcony suite you can enjoy it from there. It also greatly depends what side of the ship you are on, like in your case going north-south the left would be prefered.

Lol ... looking out of my office window right now I would disagree with you Mike :) But yes, you are quite correct, Victoria is known as lotus land. Not too hot yet not too cold in the winter season. Hardly ever any snow and what we get is gone in a matter of days, however one bad snow storm will remain in the minds of everyone that was here is '96. We had a snow fall overnight that shut the city down, can't put a figure on how much snow fell but cars parked on the street were literally covered up. We have a saying in Victoria that says if you are tired of the weather just wait 5 minutes! Cheers, Mark
