water drop versus soap bubble

The split second in time when a water drop hits a soap bubble. Instead of the bubble bursting the drop penetrates the bubble and the drop elongates as it passes through the bubble skin. A great example of the effects of water and surface tension. (and the result of over 600 shots)

I'm VERY impressed, and I'm also surprised that it only took 600 shots to manage it.

Look up Harold Edgerton. He did a lot to advance high speed photography. He and others founded EG&G Rotron, a company that makes "air movers ("fans" to the rest of us). There are a couple of Rotron plants near where I live.

Great shot. I admire your patience but was there a point, say shot 400 that you considered just moving on to another project?
Glad you didn't look forward to seeing more.

GREAT shot martin. I have photographed water drops but have never tried drops into a bubble. 600 shots = 600 bubbles, boy you sure have patience. Terrific shot.

I certainly could understand the number of shots taken to capture this. A beautiful picture and such a unusual process both brain and capture. You got it.

WOW. I really want to try this. 600 shots? It may very well make me bonkers; just witnessing the attempt will absolutely send Hubby over the edge.
BTW - how do you find time for this when you're only "semi" retired?

Totally impressed, both by your talent and your perseverance. I've seen hundreds of bubble/water shots, but this is a first.
