Thanks. I really don't want to wait that long. I have a 109 price for 5 with the upgrade and free shipping. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I am happy to see that it will work with the newer cameras as I have a new Sony A77.

I recently upgraded to five from four. There is not a lot of difference between the two but enough to make it worthwhile if you can do it as an upgrade, which is cheaper than just buying it outright. I use light room along with PSE 10 and have found them to be very powerful, they are very compatible. I would get version 5 and then you will be able to do any postprocessing you will ever want to do. I don't think you would regret it.

Since LR 4 in not supported and I was purchasing LR for the first time I would go with the latest version to get all the bells and whistles

YES! At this price level you can not go wrong! Do the math. Elements 10 and LR5 are not completely compatible. By the time you upgrade Photoshop Elements and buy Lightroom 5, the only way to go, you will be paying more than if you just do the subscription of only 10 bucks a month! As others are mentioning the new features are just amazing! And, I agree that highlight and shadow recovery is far superior in the new versions.

The reason I am looking at Lr4 is because several people have told me that Lr5 has not changed that much from 4.
I shoot mainly jpeg, some HDR and raw. I save my photos as TIFF. I do mshoot a lot of photos and would like to improve my post processing. Also Lr4 is half the price of 5.

I looked at Lr5 but didn't see enough difference to warrant the cost, Lr4 should do you for a long time, it works for me!
:)

Naw, try LR5 free trial. Don't just read the "features." Try it. The depth of what it can draw out of your RAW files is exponentially greater. Go on, try the free trial.

I wasn't aware that LR4 was still available. I am still using four because as Searcher said the changes in five were not great enough to lure me in. I'll probably update when six comes out. What I said earlier still holds I believe Adobe is best in PP software and everyone should have and preferably start with LR. For most it does 95% of everything you will want to do. And for most Elements will do the rest. ;)

Ditto that but if 6 comes out as a rental for $10/month, I won't do it.

No, no! When you have the subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud you get all upgrades AT THAT PRICE! You no longer have to pay the "Upgrade Fee!" That's the beauty of it! You get upgrades automatically from here on out! You will always have the latest, greatest! Its the only way to go!

Well, then if it works. And, just noticed your byline, that you can get off a couple of extra shots while turning the other cheek! Priceless!

That's what I did recently. Considering you get LR and PS and Bridge, plus more, it's not a bad deal. Also, they have some very good tutorials on all their products.

I was like you and used elements as my primary post editor but when I delved into LR4 it changed everything. It is like reshooting the same picture from your camera and making corrections hours later. I'm a traditionalist at heart and believe in shooting it correctly the first time around but that isn't always practical. That is where LR comes in. Best if you shoot raw but it works very will with JPEG etc. Elements or PSE really compliment it for creative editing and of course filters like Topaz etc also help.

It is worth the investment not sure I could live without it

Yep, Lr4 works for all that I need! Thanks for the byline comment, it is original by me.
