I do like the first image. The second image is a little too intense for my taste; the highly compressed tonality diminishes a sens of depth within the composition, essentially flattening the image.
It all comes down to subjective taste ...... as for #2, my tastebuds are urging me to pass.
HDR doesn't have to mean over processed but in the end it is what makes you happy.
For my taste, I think the original is way better. Beautiful shot.
#2 is definitely well cooked but I like it!

Looks like the original captured the entire dynamic range so I would question the use of HDR. I agree with the others that #2 is too over processed.
Maybe something in between. With wide dynamic range in this shot a very light Tone mapping may be all you would like.

I like that much better. For my HDR, I simply used Scott Kelby's presets.

Yes, I much prefer this one. I like a photo which doesn't scream "Look at me, I'm HDR!". A lot of people take the process way too far - at least for my taste.
