I haven't had the chance to get out in the wild so to speak but the zoos around here are fantastic to take some pics at. Here are some of my favorties and I haven't done any editing to them. Still learning the whole photoshop thing.

Wow, you might be a beginer at photoshop, but your pictures are great. What kind of camera were you using? The quality is great. Very nice

Rachel,

I wouldn't call it country...a small town (13,000 people)
lots of horse farms, woods. about 20 minute drive to a mall

Are you talking about my gator? If so, no, I live in Louisiana, and I have a camp in St. Bernard Parish, which is on the M.R.G.O. and Lake Borgne. Very near the Gulf of Mexico.

I took the picture at full sunlight with my P&S while the boat was moving......alot, we circled back to get his picture and I kept snapping away before he left. Which was about 3 minutes later.

my gator, about 16'

Ok so I am going to throw my two cents in.
These may not be my best shots but they are all meaningful to me. The first is of a cardinal, one of the first photos that I have ever taken. The second is a blue frog that lived in my pond all summer. I swear it really looked like this, a herpetologist friend of mine says that it is a genetic mutation, they are missing the yellow pigment in there skin. The blue is there but no yellow (blue + yellow = green)so they are just blue . It was very cool.
The last is of a Great Blue Heron, I have a lot of better ones of him but he just looked kinda dinosaurish in this photo. I was with my 86 year old mother and we were relaxing , the bird was flirting with my mom . so these are my sentimental wildlife photos. 8-)

He really is this color read the above reason why

He didn't stick around long enough for me to find out. This is one image that make me think I need to adjust the focus on my camera; I focused on his eyes and it seems to be a little front focused.

How do you adjust the focus on your camera?
sorry if this is a dumb question

As far as I'm concerned, the only dumb question is one you don't ask.

Some of the newer cameras have the option to micro-adjust the auto-focus on the camera, either once for every lens or on a lens-by-lens basis, so that it focuses at the distance from the camera that you want it to. My 40D does not have this option, and I have never had a problem getting things in focus that I want in focus with it. This image of the Chipmunk was captured with my 5D MkII. I am quite certain that I focused on the eyes, but in the image it appears that the focus point was right in front of the nose. If the camera had focused properly on the eyes, I think the ears should have been sharper and the leaf in front of the chipmunk should have been more out of focus. There are tools they make to make this adjustment easier. I hope this helps.

Is that a peigon? Threre so brave. We have them at the Cafe du Monde (I think the original coffee house, started in the mid 1800's). and their always trying to eat your beinets.

No, it's a seagull - although they are as much a pest as a pigeon

I've learned to appreciate the gulls. They truly are magnificent fliers.
