A friend of mine, we'll call him Dave, told me about this forum, so I thought I'd check it out. I have been interested in photography since the mid-1980's when I picked up a Canon T-70 while deployed to Greece when I was active duty AF. I bought my first Digital SLR back around 2004. This was the Canon Digital Rebel (I still have it) touted as the first Digital SLR for consumers with a price point under $1000 (Well, $999 is under $1000).

Anyway, it was a good camera for just shooting family and friends and scenery, but it was far from a serious camera. About a year ago, I started getting the bug that I wanted to get serious about learning photography and I decided that in order to do that I would need to get a serious camera (at least more serious than the 6MP Rebel I had). After a lot of research on the WWW, I decided to get a Canon 7D with the kit lens. I have since obtained one additional lens - the Canon 70-200mm f4 "L" series. (Now I want more "L" glass - wow what a difference!). I also bought a really good tutorial to learn the basics of this very powerful camera.

Most recently, I decided I wanted a good "point and shoot" camera to carry around everywhere when I may not have the 7D with all the lenses handy. So, for an every day "keep it handy" camera, I just ordered the Canon SX50 HS. My friend Dave has one and sings its praises, so I did some research and ended up getting the same. (I was torn between the SX50 and the Panasonic FZ200)

Have not taken delivery yet, but look forward to trying it out!

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome folks. I was going to post a link to a set of pictures I have (had) on Flickr, but I just discovered that, somehow, all my pictures except one have been deleted from this set. I have no idea why! I know I didn't delete them. I'm wondering if I was hacked or if there is some other possible reason why 60+ pictures that have been there for months are now suddenly gone (except one picture)? I'll post a question in the appropriate forum.
