Playing with a Nikon 50/1.4 and tubes was fun so tried pentax SMC 55/1.8.
Even better, so tried my Schneider-Kreuznach 150/5.6. Fantastic detail but 25 cm of tubes is a bit much and these old eyes need lots of light.
Now that I’m hooked on macro i decided to spring for a Tokina 100/2.8 real macro lens. Almost as good as the 105 nikon and whole lot cheaper. Leaving the store is when the gotcha got me….

Sitting all forlorn on the top shelf was an ugly brown box with yellow labels and those damning letters… D800…

I hold you all responsible for my demise as you forced me into it.

As punishment for you all, here is my new Tokina on my new D800 shooting that damn label.

couldn't convince myself the e was that much sharper and think the filter may save a shot here and there.

That's what you get for not wearing a mask, thick glasses that hug the head and rubber gloves in such a contagious environment

congrats on your new camera...I know what it's like to impulsively buy something. I roam through Amazon and I have "1 click" so all I have to do is click on the button and 2 days later it arrives...of course then it's also on my credit card.

Take great photos and share them...

If only there had been a pretty girl around to catch your eye instead! Come to think of it, you may have gotten off cheaper the way things did work out! :) Besides, I don't see what the problem is. You got a new toy! Two actually. How bad can that be? Enjoy!

Welllll, a good lens deserves a good camera. After all, glass rules!

It got worse; last night i pointed the Tokina across the room, saw the results and grabbed up an armful of glass i had been sort of satisfied with on the D7100.

The D800 is a demanding beast and this morning i replaced my 18-55/3.5 nikon, 70-300/4 tamron and 55-200/4 nikon with a 28-300/3.5 VR nikon and a SP24-70/2.8 VC Tamron. The 800 likes my primes but made it very clear it knew the difference between $200 plastic and $1300 glass. My normally soft nikon 24-120/3.5 street-sweeper surprisingly made the cut and should be a flattering wedding/portrait lens.
On the positive side, the pain of upgrading is over and by buying all at once i got a $200 lens rebate and a $600 discount. Naturally i blew it on two filters, a Delkin memory stick and radio remote link since the 800 lacks IR capability.
All in all, its been a good two days and feeling the weight of a real camera in my grubby little paws is sheer heaven even if it means i can't afford my medicine this month... Oh yeh, the 7100 really struts its stuff with the new glass.
