Nice shots, i have odd question - so what is the fruit thing they are feeding on? and did you put it there or is that left over from the fruiting season? I am in the frozen tundra of MN so I wondered

I am in southeast Texas, about 60 miles north of Houston...have forgotten the name of the tree....but these fruits or whatever they are appear each fall and either eventually fall to the ground or are eaten by birds and squirrels...

Almost missed them...the light was poor and almost mistook them for female cardinals....a quick double take sent me for the camera....always appreciate you looking in, Jim...

Super shots ! Whenever I see pictures of these birds they always look so well groomed and sleek. Never a feather out of place. Just love the colour mix on these birds :D

Hi hb3. Your birds are beautiful and the focus is really nice. I like the SDOF.

They are indeed unusually sleek and clean, with a wide array of color....my wife refers to them as the James Bond of the bird community...good looking, a bit mysterious, with an array of unique, but small and attractive characteristics(the red and yellow coloring)...thanks for the kind comments...

Very pretty! We had a flock of 20 or so in my apartment complex, feasting on the ornamental cherries all winter.
