Very interesting, Ralph! They look a little like our Canada geese, but with the ring around their neck they remind me of a phesant!

My wife & I saw a couple of those on our first trip to Hawaii in 2008. I remember one of the park rangers said being hit by cars was a big problem because people try to feed them from the edge of the road.

they do not want you to feed them. people know get in trouble if you get caught
