I absolutely love mine, I can shoot in the church without flash, at high iso and get no noise,. color reproduction is stunning, quality of my photos has improved. I like the no video, the dials and that it looks like a FE whichwas one of Nikon's best slr. go to a camera store, put it in your hands and quicker then saying Nikon rules, your visa card will be out. I went from a d-100 to the df, kinda like going from a model a ford to the 2014 chevy stingray. wow wow and wow is all I can say. I did not purchase thespecial edition 50 mm lens as I already have a 50mm but I love the camera. just waiting for them to come out with a battery grip for the df.

Essentially from a Yugo to a BMW...
Sure you see a difference.
Now try from a Yugo to a R&R with a D4s or a D800e (and weep)

I am exactly like you, I went from D200 to the Df, and got mine at Christmas time with out the kit 50mm lens because I have already got one.

I'm not a Pro. retiring and enjoying my last journey of my life, and don't need the D4. I don't need that much MPix of the D800, and another computer with much larger hard drive! Waiting for the D400 was like a dream, so I made my decision getting this Df, and never look back!

I am a canon shooter so take this for whatever it's worth. You already have many nikon bodies to choose. As above I would get better glass than a new body. Other things being equal better glass will get you better pictures. Just my opinion.

There is no video with df.

and thank heaven for that. interesting note, nikon is having trouble keeping up with the orders for the df - guess video isn't really that important to the buyers.

I don't believe I write this, but I do miss the D800 every now and then, I was considering to buy one back, but then the Df popped up and I am very much wrestling with that decision which one to buy, I do not care about video, my take on that is if you need video then buy a good damn video camera which is dedicated to it, a DSLR should be a DSLR, period, from my point of view drop the video of a DSLR and improve pricing on it!
I any case, thank you very much for your input, some of it very amusing and some of it very interesting and helpful, still don't know what to do..........

it's plane to see where your coming from , but the video in the DSLR is a better deal than you seem to know about . you can change to different len's
wide angle to telephoto . and chose a lot better qualty that comes with most camcorders . and the low light works for video also . plus you can make high qualty 35 millimeter movies . worthy of any top movie production that you can find on the big screen . and any movie camera that can match that is way
heaver and cost at least $6000 if not more for interchangeable len's .
I for one would not buy it with out video . I don't use it much but it's there . when I do . there is some episodes of braking bad that were shot with a DSLR
plus other tv shows . so that is why some people in the know want DSLR video
