My Nikon D90's flash no longer locks down so I need to send it in for service. Am I correct in that the best place to get it fixed would send it to Nikon or is there somewhere else? I was going to upgrade but I'm very happy with my D90 so I would rather get it fixed and have routine services done on it and get another lense instead.

I would use Nikon service who will return it to you like new. You can contact them for an estimate before sending it off. Google Nikon Repair Service to printout the form and for contact and shipping instructions. ;)

I would contact Nikon and speak with them in regards to your pop-up flash issue. https://www.support.nikonusa.com/app/contact

I have two 90d does your flash still work when tou want it to. if it cost to much to fix , and it still works , I would just figure a way to tie it or tape it down when it's not needed

yea I just looked at myD90 , it would fairly easy to carve a piece of wood to fit in the space under the flash if it stops when you open it at the spot where it should . or if it's there now and just won't lock when it pushed down . you can always buy a flash the small one it's called something 400 it's all you need
you don't need the 600 or 900 or 950 the 400 will give you more than you got now and there cheaper than a repare of the one on there it will more than likely be $200 or there abouts . a used d90 is only $450 with a len's , I'll sell you one of mine . I'm serious

The flash does work still. I'm just worried about it getting more severely broken.

Thank you but I would rather invest the money to have it fixed. I really like my D90 so I would rather fix it and have routine maintenance on it at the same time. Then I will save for another lens instead of a new body.

I am in the market for a used 50mm with 1.8 or 2.8 for my d-90. Any suggestions for a lens for shooting basketball. I have a 18-200 now. My grandson likes the pics. of himself. Oh kids today.

I have gotten very good service from Precision Camera in Enfield CT.

http://www.precisioncamera.com/

They work on a flat rate system. Fill out the brand and model of your camera on the site and you will see right upfront the cost to put your camera back in action. The service I have gotten is very prompt and consistent.

No relation to the company other than being a very satisfied customer.
