So sorry your camera gear is crap! Here's what to do:

Immediately wrap and pack and ship it to me. PM me for address and shipping label.

Go to Adorama and buy the D800E or 5dMkIII and a cadre of new lenses.

Be happy! :)

Hopefully, folks can read my sarcasm :)

Pardon my curiosity, but what does that have to do with one camera owner's remarks to another camera owner (that being the subject of this thread)?

I really am at a loss as to how the OP's detractor's moronic comment has been extended to fifteen pages. And now, it's descending into a debate about marketing tactics. Good grief!

I have owned over a dozen Nikons in my lifetime. Some were film cameras and I currently own 5. An old FM2 that I used for several years as a newspaper photog,(kept for souvenir value)and an N90(film camera)that I was using when I switched to digital. I also have and use a D80, D90, and D7000. I love those cameras and think that Nikon makes a superb product.

I have only owned one Canon in my life and it was a P&S film camera. I don't remember the model. It had excellent optics and I even shot some assignments with it when I worked for the newspaper. That is the only experience I have had with Canon products.

My thinking is this, I love Nikons and I have no intention of making a change. If someone else loves a different brand of camera, so be it. I am sure there are reasons he likes it and it is not my business to try to make him feel inferior for owning his preferred brand. People who do that are rude and insensitive. There is some pretty tough competition out there in the camera business and they can't all stay in business by selling junk. So if you like what you use stick with it.

I used to sell for a living and the worst thing you could do is run the competitors product down. It only made people think that your product must not be that good.

Wow, you really screwed that up, even the D800E is crap, just not as crappy as the D700. Only the 5DMkIII or 1DX pass muster.

the post was about the D700 which cost three times as much as the D7000
when it first came out , and it is still worth more than a D7000 also it's a full frame . I would trade a d7000 for a D 700 any day . even if it is a little behind
the d7000 in tecknoledge .

I personally would like to have both. If I come across a good D700 for the right price I will have it. Point is, I prefer Nikon though I have used both Nikon and Canon.

:?: Many, many responses, but while surfing UHH, I ran accross this. It might be in the list of replies, but if not, I am quoting, w/o permission, what the person says, and I believe it:
Once you've met the bare minimum quality, it's not the quality of the equipment that improves your output quality. A better gun won't make you a better gunfighter; a better hammer won't make you a better carpenter; and a better camera won't make you a better photographer.

I think that says it all.

A crap camera is one that doesn't work...i.e. can't take a picture.
If the camera works and is capable of taking a picture then 'crap' or 'awesome' is in the hands of the photographer.

I have never been a "fan boy" so to speak which that Canon user sounds like. But for me personally, I can't judge Nikons product. I started out on a Canon and still use Canon this day (developed a loyalty i guess you can say).
But like everybody else has said, its best to not let it get to you. You get some real "winners" that are huge (enter word that begins with A ends with S with a middle letter of H)

Keep shooting, enjoy what you do. Doesn't matter what you shoot with as long as at the end of the day you are happy with the results!

Hey Doug, don't listen to that moron. It was just released today that companies that are in trouble in 2014 isn't Nikon it was Canon. I would love to have a D700. If you don't like it now and want to get ride of it cheap, I know where a new home for it is.

MMMM, no. That story listed other companies that are in trouble, including Intel and HP. Think I'll keep my Canon. I have noting against Nikon except that all my film lenses were Canon. My P&S is Nikon.

The weakest link in just about any camera system is the operator.

You might be right...today. But the technology is changing faster than I can afford to keep up. Any bets about 5 years from now?

The current technology exceeds my current needs. Why debate? Cost of film & processing is greater than the cost of film cameras.
