Microsoft picture manager, Picasa and Corel.
Just couldn't do much with it.

I used PSE 7. I selected the upper right background. Adjusted levels and warmed it a bit. Then selected only skin tones and adjusted hue and lighting. Just a little tweak. Maybe a little better.

What are you using for post processing?
Can't speak for the others here. But I used curves in Photoshop to first color correct the whole image and then the selection tool to isolate and boost the bkg colors.

Anybody know how to correct the skintone on this photo? The light just killed it .... I just can't seem to get the red to come around :(

I like your second one. And the snow stayed white. Very nice.
Was there fluorescent lighting?

I like this adjustment the best, more natural to me but that is just my opinion.

Yep Bobber - just a little too blue.
I don't remember what kind of lights were in that hotel.
Was at a Christmas Party in Spartenburg SC.
Thanks for making it better.
I just got a new monitor, and on that, I see a definite blue cast. The old one gave up its ghost not long after dealing with your problem.
Did not have to do much to here. Now if it's tarnished with blue, blame it on my eyes.

Don't suppose you shot JPEG + RAW ?? I think the problem lies with the in-camera processing - which can sometimes be a bit obtuse. If you have the RAW data, you can always go back in post and adjust the white balance, color, and fill far better than if all you have is the camera interpretation of what it thinks you wanted at the time.
.
You'll need your camera manufacturers' RAW interpreter (free with your camera), OR the appropriate RAW plug-in for PS / PSE.

Those are in photoshop elements
I don't have Photoshop -
I think the camera was set on jpeg at the time.
I really didn't pay any attention to what type of lighting
at the time but I do think that was my problem.
Looked ok in the camera but when I viewed the photo's on my computer - they were terrible. Some red was what I was after and you all have been very helpful - Thanks ...
I would love to see the original. I need to see your histogram. When the histogram is off, so will others. Can you send me the original to bob@cokerphotos. We just spoke about this in photo class last evening.

Try this. Converted to LAB color, went into the b channel and adjusted towards the blue end of the spectrum. Added a Hue/Saturation layer and boosted the saturation, which did good things to the tree, and bad things to the people. Painted out the H/S mask with a soft brush on the people. Sharpened in the Lightness channel. Flattened and converted back to RGB.
I'd go to adjust white balance and click on the white in her blouse. That should adjust the colors accurately, and then you can saturate a little if you want.
