D does not mean DX, any Nikon DX lens uses both letters to say that. What is dreaded, for some, is the missing "AF-S", so it does not have it's own focusing motor. If you have a D3x00, D5x00, D40, D60, it will not autofocus. If you have a D7x00, D80/D90 or above, everything will work great.
Thanks, my Nikon lenses are so old, except my 85mm, that I have never paid this any attention.
