Your old lenses WILL work on a D7100. I chose a D90 to support my 80-200 which will NOT auto focus on a D5100.

If you are talking about the lens I purchased by mistake,I took it back to best buy & got my money back. I couldn't find any of the AF-S on sale or refurbished so I have decided to forget it until I can find a better price. Thanks for your reply.

Nikon is fair traded. Nikon decides when and what lenses go on sale. Nikon does have a sale on a number of lenses going on now with the purchase of a new camera. I don't have the list with me but if your are going to get a new D7100 before the end of the month be sure to ask what lenses are on sale with the purchase. There are about a dozen and some as much as $300 off. This is how Nikon usually puts their lenses on sale, with the purchase of a body. Think sale ends 12/13 but will check it out later

Marilyn - in light of this and your previous post I'm thinking that this will help you gain a greater understanding of your Nikon gear ......

Nikon Cameras and Nikkor Lenses.

This information is important to understand in terms of future camera/lens planning.

This needs to go in the FAQ's

I have been thinking that after the holidays I would like to get another camera & I am interested in the D7100.I now have a D5100 & wonder if all of my lenses will AF with the D7100,my gut feeling is no, correct?

Marilyn,
As many have stated before me, your lens will work fine. The D7100 has focus motor in the camera body so you can use AF or AF-S lens and they will work just fine.

Pity - that Nikkor 50mm f1.8 AF-D is one of the sharpest Nikkors of all-time. It would be a wonderful portrait lens on a D7x00 Nikon.

She can still get it, at a better price than she originally paid.

Let me (hopefully) be the first to ask The Golden Question. What kind of shooting do you do? :D

The focusing motor in the body is a big plus for the D7000/D7100.

that goes totally against what your earlier thread said... :-P

Hello Myrilyn :-)
I purchased the D7100 not long ago . I packaged it with the 18-105 and the 70-300 lens. I am amazed at what all it can do. Working 8 to 14 hours a day no time to use it. :-(
Much needed vacation soon . Then I will get to drive her.
I did purchase the Nikon D7100 DVD Basic Controls. It is helpful. 8-)
