I am a beginner and I can't seem to get off that page. I think I need a good instructional type magazine but don't know which one. Any suggestions on which would be a good all around instructional mag?

Check out your local library and browse through the different photography magazines they have there. While you're there, look at the photography instructional books the library has on its shelves.

I get Pop Photo and Outdoor Photo through Amazon for about $11/year. Each issue has at least one article I find useful. The expensive foreign magazines will be more instructional, but at a very high price. One or two tips a month is good for me.

Don't forget to look for online tutorials. This is a good site.

I have received a lot from Photo Life which is a Canadian magazine with some very good articles. It comes out every other month.

Some of the Brit mags are good. Less adverts more content.

As usual, you and the others are right-on.... I would add, not for the new or faint at heart... the "c't Digital Photography." Each month they have a heavy duty article often 20 pages of VERY in-depth tech info. There are two types of issues depending on the Book-Store one is $10, the other with the CD is $15. However the $10 one allows a net download of what the CD contains.

Absolutely. You'll find more info than will ever be in a
magazine.

I tried it and thought it was good. However it kept crashing on my Ipad. I have the original iPad. Did you ever experience this?

You can also learn online. Then you don't have to buy magazines hoping they have the info you need.

Try this Web-site. Select the Learn tab:

www.photo.net.

You also can type your question in your Web browser to find instruction.

Wikipedia can help, too. Go there, and enter "aperture," for example, and a good explanation will return for you to study.

This interesting Web site helps you learn the operational aspects of a DSLR without a camera:

The SLR Camera Simulator: http://camerasim.com/camera-simulator.html

This Web site will explain ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, and their relation to one another:

http://www.cameraporn.net/2007/12/24/aperture-iso-and-shutter-speed-the-good-kind-of-threesome/

Good luck.
