Bipartisan politics has kicked into such a high gear that many, even when presented with the facts that dispute their criticisms, will continue to support their beliefs regardless, hence the term cognitive dissonance.

For months I've sat here reading all manner of whinging by Americans about their President. Today I saw this man stand head and shoulders above all other World leaders and make a speech at the Mandela memorial event that was stunningly brilliant. I cannot imagine any of his recent predecessors being able to speak so honestly or with such impact, conviction and meaning as he did today. We would all do well to remember his comments and implement them in our own lives, as doing so would make the World a far better place to live in. Certainly it would be far better to do this than sniping over such issues as Obamacare. His was the only contribution that brought everyone to their feet and should have made Americans feel proud, although I susoect there will still be plenty who will sadly wish to continue the sniping.

I agree and tried to say that once on this site as well. I got blasted out of the water because like it or not, there are plenty of people who vehemently despise the elected leader of our country and they have no trouble saying they have the right (which they do) to express their angst and loathing of our current administration. Still, I continue to read their views trying somehow to understand how they can continue with so much hate.
I 'kinda' like our country and although it is not perfect, the USA is the greatest country on the planet. Those of us that live here (or there) have to live together. Or at least try. Sure it's fine to have disagreement, but some of these people take it to a frightening level. Try and roll with the punches. I just kinda nod and think 'Oh well".

That's what is positive about these forums, you can read and shake your head, sometimes in amazement, or you can vent a little and get blasted. Not too often is anyone absolutely right. Yes, it's good to have some other views to stimulate (or not) your thinking. Some can blast you good and think they've won, but I feel the silent majority just shakes their heads and "rolls with the punches." Some, however, can justifiably blast us! :-)

I made no reference as to why this forum is on UHH. I did point out that I have the ability to not read it if I don't like it. If a view you haven't considered happens to be blatantly racist or demeaning or lacking credibility when stated as fact, I wouldn't call it conceited if you pointed that out. If you are not aware of what me and others are referring to, please continue to be happy.
I would like you to point out a racist statement on this forum. I do not agree that any statement of displeasure with the current Administration is automatically racist. If that was true we could go back to the comments about Bush and declare them all to be racist. He was, after all, the most hated animal on the planet; an old white man.
I am not so conceited to make a statement like you did: "If you are not aware of what me and others are referring to, please continue to be happy." You are automatically assuming you are some how far more intelligent than anyone that disagrees with you. I should also add condescending to your attitude.

Man, you got to take a breath! I'm referring to many different threads over time, not necessarily the current one, when I reference racism. It's like someone stating there are millions of starving people all over the world and you tell them to name one. Apparently you haven't read enough responses on various days where members express discord about some of the "possibly improper conduct" of others to the point they wish Admin would intervene. Also, don't presume to what you think others assume, it makes you sound condescending. :-D

Obama is quite talented at delivering a scripted speech. Something that can be appreciated when you aren't directly affected by his actions or agenda. His approval ratings here in his own country have dropped below 50% in last few months and in a recent poll, a majority said they would vote for Romney if they could have a do-over of the election.
Unfortunately, there will be the nay-sayers who wish he would stay in South Africa.
We wouldn't expect you to take new information in and incorporate it into your pea brain.

4. This is a photography forum.....So don't start contaminating this site with politics!
P.S. If you lived in this country you would see that Obamacare is just 1 major problem...Immigration is another, as is support for our military. I could go on for hours..................

I am tired of the Democrats playing the race card every time they can't come up with an intelligent response. Yes, there are some extremely stupid comments made on this forum but I have not seen more than one or two that were overtly racist. There seems to be a witch hunt for racism these days and it is getting old.
In the early sixties I was threatened with arrest for sharing a coke with a fellow Marine in Rocky Mt, NC simply because he was black and I'm not. I have seen real racism in my time and what goes on today is nothing compared to the real thing. The most racist town I have ever been in was Chicago in the early 70's. I have been denied jobs I applied for because the company was under federal order to hire more blacks. That was then, years ago.
If you want to keep crying racism then I want to see the proof because it doesn't show up in my daily experience.
