I'm sure that The Queen would have acted with more decorum that those captured laughing and taking 'selfies' at a funeral. Whilst I have no time for Mandela who should have been shot for his actions with the ANC in my opinion, these so called leaders were on a world stage and should have acted accordingly. If they thought it was necessary to attend the funeral then learn some respect if not for the man then for the nation that obviously venerates him.

It's all over the news today that shortly after those photos of O having fun at a funeral were taken, his wife switched seats with him and in the next photos... he isn't smiling anymore. At least someone had some common sense! As for Bush, you bet his speech writers visibly cringed when he spoke without a script.

Yeh, I remember Bush sitting at a school totally expressionless apart from a stunned look of confusion on his face, while terrorists smashed planes into US buildings. He just didn't have a clue what to do next.

Get over you partisan crap. I was teaching a class of 20 adult students that day. There wasn't a single face in the entire school that did not mimic Bush's expression as we watched the planes crash into the towers.

I saw an interview where he was asked about that moment. He said he was stunned because what was happening was beyond belief. His first thought was not to alarm the children he was speaking too so he finished what he was doing and left on schedule.

What exactly would you have had him do at that point? The attack on 9/11 was beyond anyone's experience in it's scope and barbarism.

How about not having political discussions on a photography site.

Simple solution: stick to the photography sections.

"Obama is not in the same league as Churchill as an orator, but most certainly he is not in the same league as bumbling Bush."

You are SOOOO leftly right... You, as probably a typical Brit has NO ideal the damaage "o" has done to our country... He has NO knowledge how to run a Country , much less a company.... His experience as a Senator was only just over 100 working days in office, and most of that was politicing his run for President...

Thanks Norman. I use to cringe every time Bush would get up to speak before a world audience. His bumbling speech was an embarrassment to this country along with the countless errors his administration made that we are still paying for.

  I agree with you. I rarely read these topics. Its good to get away from all the lies and hate toward the President. Photography is an outlet for all of this. Why do we need this section on a photography forum. There is a lot other places for this bull s__t.

Sometimes it's amusing and allows you to vent a little about the frustrating world. Most of the time is the same characters claiming to be in the know while essentially doing no more than political bashing and showing that most of them have little understanding of world events, economics or history. When you have had enough, you "change the channel."

For months I've sat here reading all manner of whinging by Americans about their President. Today I saw this man stand head and shoulders above all other World leaders and make a speech at the Mandela memorial event that was stunningly brilliant. I cannot imagine any of his recent predecessors being able to speak so honestly or with such impact, conviction and meaning as he did today. We would all do well to remember his comments and implement them in our own lives, as doing so would make the World a far better place to live in. Certainly it would be far better to do this than sniping over such issues as Obamacare. His was the only contribution that brought everyone to their feet and should have made Americans feel proud, although I susoect there will still be plenty who will sadly wish to continue the sniping.

TWO WORDS -- Speech Writers. Listen to a couple of his adhoc speeches and your impression will be the exact opposite. Not only that, the incumbent is a very good actor and has learned over the years how to express himself with empathy, emotion, and honesty (the greatest lie of all).

I believe that many of us respect the office and his position, but this person filling this very important leadership position does not and will not ever deserve having been it for 8 disasterous years

At least we elected him, as opposed to being appointed by the Supreme Court after proving he wasn't up to the task.

Wow! The very definition of conceit.

I suppose your superior intellect has failed to notice that no one on here claims to be an expert in politics. While I find some comments to be extremely partisan, or naïve it is interesting to see others point of view. I disagreed with many of the posters but almost always see a view I had not considered.

As far as why is this forum on UHH: I believe the admin creates topic according to the wishes of the majority. Sometime long before I discovered UHH the Chit-Chat section was created and like all things use it is you like or don't.

Remember the Florida ballot issues in the last Bush election?? Who decided how those votes were treated and their effect?

I agree and tried to say that once on this site as well. I got blasted out of the water because like it or not, there are plenty of people who vehemently despise the elected leader of our country and they have no trouble saying they have the right (which they do) to express their angst and loathing of our current administration. Still, I continue to read their views trying somehow to understand how they can continue with so much hate.
I 'kinda' like our country and although it is not perfect, the USA is the greatest country on the planet. Those of us that live here (or there) have to live together. Or at least try. Sure it's fine to have disagreement, but some of these people take it to a frightening level. Try and roll with the punches. I just kinda nod and think 'Oh well".

I made no reference as to why this forum is on UHH. I did point out that I have the ability to not read it if I don't like it. If a view you haven't considered happens to be blatantly racist or demeaning or lacking credibility when stated as fact, I wouldn't call it conceited if you pointed that out. If you are not aware of what me and others are referring to, please continue to be happy.
