Hi Folks,

I'm thinking this will be OK to post these two pictures since they are of the same thing, but different colors. I hope so, since I am not trying to get away with anything or stretch the rule of this forum. If I did, I certainly apologize and will probably have to repost?

Here are two pictures of the same shot, but it was a light show choreographed to music so the lights are of different colors.

Which one do you think is the best or more pleasing to the eye or better photographically, and why, because the only major difference is in the colors? What could have been done differently to improve?

I used a Nikon D800, 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, originally shot using RAW format, full manual, ISO 1600, f/4, Spot metering, no flash, at 1/60 sec. It was also hand held, but know it would have and should have been taken using a tripod. Post Processing was done using LR 5.2 on a Mac. The images were drastically reduced in size for UHH using Photoshop. Thank you.

Tom

Well for me, I like the one with the red arches ....the red seems to make the other lights pop more than the green arches do in the first photo...not sure if that's the kind of answer you are looking for or not

Nice and sharp for hand held @ 1/60. No.1 for me hands down.

They seem well exposed and sharp. #1 for me because the blue on the trees is more pleasing than the lack of color in #2.

It is fine that you post comparison photos in this section, trc.

I am wondering if there aren't pictures, within a picture here?

Hey folks, what if I, or anyone else, made the foreground in the Red Lights picture darker causing more contrast and thus possibly making it more pleasing to the eye?

By the way, anyone is welcome to play with either picture and do whatever they think is better. All I ask is that you say why and maybe how you did it so I have an idea for your change. Go at it everyone.

Nightski just recommended to me that maybe there are pictures within the picture. Excellent idea!

In other words, crop either picture anyway you like to come up with a new separate picture concentrating on a given area thus ending up with an image that is less busy - less going on in the image. Feel free to give it a try, everyone.

Thanks for the invite! This is just a crop and very slight straighten; I know there are a lot more possibilities.

Hey Linda, that is quite nice. You know, I never paid any attention to the lines or wires that are going across the water on the right side of the original picture until I see your cropped version. It is amazing what the human eye overlooks. :)

Maybe those can be taken out in Photoshop or another image editing program. Thank you Linda.

Here's my version Tom....All I did was turn it into a panorama ...thus eliminating the unsightly electrical box and all the wires.....Tom

Tom,

That is really cool. :) I downloaded your version and it really is like a panorama. I figured you just cropped it some vertically at the bottom and that was it, but in the downloaded version it actually does look like a panorama. How did you do that, out of curiosity? Thanks.

Oh, by the way, I have some pressing chores/business I have to attend to for a while, so I won't be able to read the posts coming in or respond, but keep 'em coming. This is great! Thank you everyone.

Tom :)

First, I must state I am slightly color blind of some shades of some colors.
Having said that, I like the red one.
I do think there are a couple of pictures to be found within this one also.
