This year I am giving my husband a t-shirt of a lion that we saw at 6 Flags Great Adventure. I have made a bunch of calendars and have sold many through local shops in my area. I think photos are great gifts!

Hi Jerry. I have been on the reception end of photo gifts and quite enjoy them. Calendars with the grand kids have been hung for current year and then kept for the photo value. From a receivers point of view I think a great idea.

I think framed photographs are a great gift. This year, a friend kept commenting on one of my pictures and how much she liked it and how nice it would look as a canvas, so I have made one up for her for Christmas. I made a collage of family photos for my mother for Mother's Day and she loved it.

Several years ago I took a photo and had it made into a puzzle and gave it to several friends. It was a beach scence had nothing todo with family, etc.
Feedback was they loved that idea.
On occassion I have taken several images and made note cards and put them in groups of 12 , signed and presented them as a grouping.
Once in awhile when a good friend admires one of my images I may gift them a copy for their birthday, etc.

Jerry, my short take is "Do it, Damn it! I've done it myself the last couple of years. The kids love the calendars. They really appreciate a project that only, "the old man," can give them. In one of your answers you said that you'd print the top photo on photo paper & numbers pages on cheaper stock. That'll work fine if your plan is to have only ONE photo for the whole year; however, if you want a hinged 11 x 17 calendar, then you will need double sided printing paper. I printed my own up to this year. This year PSE had issues and wouldn't print it's own file. (No I'm not gonna go there!" Soooo, I downloaded some really good software from a company who wants to print my calendars. The software was written by a genius to operated by an idiot; so I could do it. Bottom line it's gonna cost me just under $20.00 per copy; 2nd bottom line, it costs me almost that much to print them myself. 3rd bottom line, I print 60 lb paper & they're 80 lb paper. 4th bottom line, I save at least 1,if not 2 full days of a severe test of my religious fervor! And they guarantee their work. So yes, go for it!

Jerry,my three adult children are always saying how much they enjoy my photos that I have hanging on our walls so for the first time I purchased each of them one of my photos done on canvas as a Christmas present.I have always made the younger grandchildren their own personal calendars but this year I thought I would give the adults something to remember me by.

I made up a calendar and the cover photo's for the month was a photo of those whose birthday was in that month along with the date. That way no one forgets. It was well received

I'm giving photos to persons who give me permission to take photos of them as "mannequin". They help to ameliorate the panorama of the "paysage" and that is my way to thank them. I never forget to ask them to sign permission to use their picture as tool for promotion.

I have used some of my better photos as gifts on occasion and they have been well received.I try to stay with something small, usually 5x7 matted and framed. I try to select something with beauty and appeal to the person receiving it.
