I have the A1 and was told at the "photo swap" to donate it, too good to throw away, worth nothing and maybe somebody could learn with it.
It's back in the dresser drawer.

I had an A1 for years... Great camera; also had the databack and powerwinder for it. Sold it to raise money for the move to the US, back in 1990.

Great camera. Put many a roll thru it for work and play. Still shoot with it once in a rare while. Built like a tank. Wont sell it for what its worth...its like selling the ol' workhorse to the glue factory 'cause ya got a new tractor.

Keeping mine for old times sake.

Hi. My name is Rick. I’m the owner and lead technician at Discount Camera Repair and a member in good standing here at the UHH. I’ve been doing repairs for other members here at greatly discounted rates and would be glad to help.

I'd be more than happy to repair the camera for you and keep the cost as low as possible. If you’re interested, please respond by private message or simply reply to this post.

I have learned alot since beng on here. I have an old canon AE-1 that i used for a long time. Wasnt great with it but enjoyed it. Didnt know anything about it, just set it on program and fired away. My question is this, is it worth while to send it out for cleaning ( never done) and have it looked over? To use in limited use, since i have a better ( although limited ) understanding of some of the settings. Or should i leave it as it is ( retired) and stay with my digital camera and continuing to learn and improve with it? Thanks. Oh one last thing, i have no local camera shop here, where would i send it?

Im going to retire it, but it does need cleaning. The last time i had it out on our alaska cruise the ahots werent as clear as they should be. I could see spots in pics.

Spots in pics indicates dirt on your lenses or fungus growth on the elements- not in the camera. Only Digital cameras with sensors can have dust settle on the sensor.
