Alaska: portraits in the wild.
None of these portraits were taken in a studio or with a DSLR.
Portraits #4,5,6 and 7 done in very low light conditions inside bouncing jetboat. Those kids were from Hawaii visiting Alaska. Different "bridge cameras, "P" auto, available light only.
My friend Bohus, a great outdoorsman and an excellent carver..
"Now that was funny..."
Fisherman Bob.
Alika is a daydreaming about Hawaii. The shallow depth of field and focus on hand is there on purpose.
Jamie.
Kaleo.
Michaela.
Awww Hell.
There ya go. I was willing to give you the wildlife expert title, and then you pull these portraits out of your bag. If I didnt like these so much, I'd hate you...LOL
Seriously, Bohus looks like an interesting fellow, and you've captured 2 sides of his personality wonderfully.
You show us Bob as what is probably a no nonsense guy with a bit of an imp in him.
The boys photos are deep and thoughtful. Its so nice to see youth in a serious veign. We know boys are boys and we're used to seeing them smile and be boys at play. You've shown us a side of them that makes me think "boys" in thier world become men just a little earlier than most.
I believe the last photo is a girl....amazing eyes with a story.
I'm out of adjectives but these are Beautiful Portraits.
Rocco
Excellant - all of 'em.....
Do I detect a hand etched Ivory pipe ???
I'm realizing nothing is impossible when you have a camera in your hand. Excellent portraits. Enjoyed looking at them all.
Beautiful portraits. You showed us you do not need Mega equipment to take great photo's.

Man Alaskan you are good. :)
Personally I like the last three the best. Super close and sharp across the eyes

You have some really nice street photo's there. (I'm assuming that's what those kind of pictures are called). Very well done.

Awww Hell. br There ya go. I was willing to give ... (

By golly Rocco you could make living by being a critic. You look at the subject in depth and have a way with words, thanks..
Bohus is the main character in 4 TV movies and a couple of books.I took these photos of him during filming his movie #4.
You are very right about Bob being no nonsense guy with a bit of an "imp".He built himsef a house in the wilderness from a scratch (see the enclosed photo) and making living as a fisherman in SE Alaska with horrible weather is not easy.
The moody photos of Hawaiian kids were a challenge, you can imagine a bunch of highly excited kids contained in a 36` jetboat having a ball.... Total chaos... I did the portraits when some of them were briefly "recharging".Thanks again, Ivan.
That is Bob in the boat, his house and his commercial fishing boat in the background.I took the portrait inside the house by one of the large windows.

No streets where these were taken  ,thanks Ivan.
Well, it's official now....you can do no wrong.....at least with a camera!!
Rocco as usual says it best! He does have a way with words. The portraits are so perfect! 4 is my fav!
So you take beautiful portraits too! Impressive! Your portrait subjects are all interesting and you have a way of capturing character! I really feel a connection with each of these - and I'm thinking kids are one of the most difficult subjects in photography.

Ivan Ivan Ivan...beautiful portraits and character studies. They make me want to meet Bohus and Fisherman Bob. The expressions on the kids were priceless. Your vision amazes us all whether landscape, critters and now portraits. Okay, what don't you do well? Maybe you're a lousy driver. Just trying to make myself feel good. At least you give me something to shoot for in trying to get better as a photog.
