cemetery shots! critiquing needed please!!!

so i went to the local cemetery with my mum today so i thought awesome! photo ops! these are just a couple of the ones that i took. Have never taken pics at a cemetery before so not quite sure how i did! Please critique where needed! Thanks

I love walking around the cemeteries and looking at the older monuments. The one where my parents are buried has a lot of interesting stones in it. The cemetery was hit by a tornado last summer, only a couple older stones were damaged but a lot of the trees were.
There are several handmade markers in the cemetery. It's a little country cemetery and so peaceful there. There's a handcarved wood monument there I love.
I don't know anything about photography to critique anything, but I love your photos.

Remember the rule of 3eds. Your subject seems too centered in the picture.
try to take the photo from a lower angle on the top photo or take the photo from a side angle instead of straight on. It will give it a little more character. Good selection though.

This shot is interesting you photograph the cemetery with diginity in keeping with what it is a private place in memory of those passed on. This one shot with the grave markers behind is very good. I find your shot striking and you show creativity in using light and composition and you bring something to the table by venturing into an area not usually done by most photographers. I see the possibilities of a book out of this if pursued with a lot of depth.

Wow i like that shot!! Our local has heaps that are wrecked, vandals seem to like our cemetery which is sad

I do keep forgetting that rule, still learning lol. Do you mean more side on like this?

I know what you mean. It's upsetting that anyone would think it was "fun" or ok to vandalize a cemetery and/or it's monuments. I've never understood what fun is involved in disrespecting what is meant for the living to memoralize their loved one's that have passed on. ugghh!
I need to go back and take some more photos without the shadows if it's possible on some of the monuments out there. To me, cemetaries are a thing of beauty, respect and tanquility and deserve respect.

Most definately, old monuments like the one i captured i feel are a part of history. People dont do ones like that for the most part today which i find saddening also

The old one's have a certain "character" (for lack of picking a better word to describe what I feel about them. And yes a part of history too. I've noticed often times when you watch people at the cemeteries and they are wondering around, it's the newer one's they seem to look at...myself, I'm drawn to the older one's. I find interest in the details of them...the wording, the dates, the way they have aged...and the handmade one's, which are never fancy are just awesome. You can just feel the emotion, the love and loss in them. (I'm weird I know lol) The big, fancy high priced one's don't interest me like the old one's.

Good stuff. Bottom one may have been better if you had taken a half-step to the right. The bad news is it took me twenty years to remember to get the feet in. As you can see my top shot I sometimes still forget. To confuse you even further, sometimes the shot is the feet, and then of course there is the matter of soft focus.......! The good news is it only took me ten years to discover that I could kneel down! The only rule that really matters in photography is the more you practice the luckier you get. Good stuff. Well done.

Thanks! I like all your three shots there! The middle one with the instruments best though. Sad to say that i didnt get the feet in most of them lol

My daughter and I take pics for FindAGrave.com. We try to get the FULL stone/marker in the shot. Our second shot focuses on the writing.
I liked the pics you made but I'd like to see the whole banana. The exception would be to focus on a face only or other part.
WE go into many cemeteries a lot! It's a quiet and beautiful place to practice photography. It also helps preserve history.
