Led TV vs LED Computer Monitor

For the same price you can buy either an LED TV with inputs for a computer or a dedicated monitor. Does the TV do as good of job viewing / editing pictures from the computer as a dedicated monitor? Thoughts opinions? I am looking at the 24 to 27" screen size.

I would imagine that they are just the same, although I am no expert. It isn't like the old days when CRT televisions were so different from monitors. These are both digital, so why would they be different?

I am sure there will be a flood of messages if I am wrong on this!

The TV is going to have resolution of no better than 1920x1080 (1080p).
No matter what size.

The monitor can be of higher resolution at larger sizes.
And have better color rendition.

You will be limited on the resolution of a TV versus a computer monitor. If one is just viewing and not too concerned with the best in resolution a TV will work. But for editing go with a computer monitor.

You'll have a heck of a time trying to color manage. TVs just aren't made for that.

It depends. Its been my experience that the TV does a good job but a dedicated monitor is probably better.

I have been using an LG 27 inch TV monitor with a color munki screen display adjustment and the color and resolution have been great.

Get the TV. I use a Samsung SyncMaster T260HD that will run my DVD player, hook to cable so that I can watch HDTV during lunch or coffee breaks, and has DVI-D for the computer for my photo and video editing. The cost of that HD tuner is about $50. So spend the extra. Image and color are the same.
