Now THIS is a Coyote! Also a GBH taking flight.

He looks wild and wooly. What a great tail on him. Nice shots!
Such a beautiful animal. I learned to call coyotes as a teenager in Kansas, and they now will come visit when I call where I live now. I learned to call them as they paid a $2.00 bounty in Kansas at the time. Now I know that they are more than that, they are a beautiful animal that deserves to live just like all (armadillos are the exception in my yard) the animals that share our environment. The couple that answered my call apparently stayed as I'd hear the yip of their young on a small hillock near my home after that. And I saw more. Wished I could have have a camera handy like you did for this beautiful speciman.

Linda from Maine captured this fine wild coyote. I seem to capture primarily mushrooms, leaves, vegetables, flowers. I'm sure she will see your post.
Very nice, you're making me jealous, thanks for sharing.

Photo #3 taken in same pasture, but different sides :)

First shot is a stunning coydog shot!
Beware of these dogs!!!!
Gorgeous heron!
Bruce with a Canon,
was wondering why you called this a coydog? Looks to me to be a straight up coyote, albeit a prime specimen, well captured.
More of your "work to aspire to" Linda. Like the GBH but love the coyote shot. Fun stuff.
You are all so generous and gracious with your time and kind words - along with your personal stories - I appreciate it very much!
As for image quality, you have to remember these are with a 35mm equivalent of 1000 mm - 1800 mm lens on moving animals (and #1 is cropped too). For a $350 camera/lens, I more than get my money's worth :)
What a great encounter! Well done.

Nice catch, most of the coyotes in the northeast are descendants from the earliest ones that bred with the few remaining wolves before the coyotes just took over, and are much larger than the rest of the country.. I got a good view of one taking down a deer a couple years ago from my blind.. I was less than 50 feet away.. after I saw that I was much more wary of them.. they dont get hunted much up here and are getting braver and braver.. one probably wont attack, but a group stay away
Coyote kills deer
Great set, Linda! Love the first one!
Wow!! Great shots! #1 is fantastic!

What a handsome chap that coyote is. Great set Linda, thank you for sharing
He's watching you closely, Linda! Good shot of the heron, too!
