Shot in Florida my sisters house. Nikon D7000, 6:17 pm, Tamron 90mm AR SP lens, 1/1000 sec, f5.0, ISO 1600, no flash, matrix metering. Appreciate any responses. Dewayne

Hi Dewayne. I love the flower and I love the bokeh on the left side. If only could put those two together :) I think I have a problem with the brighter light behind the main flower, it's a bit distracting for me.

When I first looked at this image I was very impressed. I looked a little longer to see if there was anything I could suggest. It could possibly be improved if there was a little more contrast between the flower and the background directly behind it.

That being said, this is a beautiful image.

I kind of like the light behind the flower, to me it makes it stand out and catches my eye.

Thanks I have another shot of the flower without the light that looks just as good to me. does anyone have any idea whats the name of the flower is. they grow from a very tall stalk and hang upside down. My sister didn't know either

A pleasing image but you may have too much empty space doing nothing to help your subject. You may wish to experiment with a portrait (vertical) orientation and crop to see how it looks. 8-)

I also was disturbed with the light and had to hunt for the flower. Maybe increasing contrast would help? Pretty subject.

I think this is a pleasing image. I do agree that a different crop may make it more so.. The stem on the left is distracting and has no purpose. Now if you had included the top of that stem, assuming it connects to the flower it would have added to the image and I would have kept it. I think brightening the flower and dodging down the bright light behind it would help. Being a thumbnail and not the original I really can't tell how sharp the focus is, do for a complete critique you would need check store original so it can be downloaded.

Ok, Thanks Country's Mama now that's some advice I can learn from.
