Hi I am new to this site. Newly retired from Chicago and now in SC. Shot a lot of pictures for weddings and sports as a hobby. So I have a lot of 35mm nikon lenses and cameras . Now I am looking to go digital . I would love any info on the nikon D7000 . Trying to make use of my old AF lenses. I have only been looking at this site for about a week and am finding myself looking forward to it every day. Please keep up the good work.

I've had a d7000 for just over a year. Except for the D3X or the new D4 (D800, coming soon), I wouldn't change it for the world.
No need to take my word for it. I did a quick google search for d7000 reviews.

you can use your old af lenses on the 7000 as it still has the af motor in the body. the d300,3100,5000,5100 do not. good luck findind a 7000, since it is only produced at the nikon factory in thailand that suffered severe flood damage due to a tsuami. you may want to wait on the 7100 or thed-400 which are coming.
by the way KC, hows the sunshine band doing? (sorry im a natural born smart alec. but that's the way eh huh eh huh I like it!!!!!!)
hey no one ever said that before, that was pretty good/ I am trying to find out about the d7000, no luck so far.Are you saying you think the new d800 will alsp use old lenses. Is this replacing the D7000 Thanks
I have a D90 now, but running out to get the 7000 ASAP. Want to get it before Nikon realizes they need to raise the price.

the proand prosumer models of nikon's dslrs will still have the auto focus motors in their bodies. such cameras include d4 d3x d3s d3 d700 d300s and d300. the entry leveland advanced amatuer models won't. I think an accoutant is running nikon now. this decision really hacks me off. they figure anyone just starting out wont have any nikon glass and thus can be steered to the afs models which cost more. i think this is a boneheaded decision that ranks right up with cannon changing their lens mount for their dslrs so their older lenses wont fit. If i could start all over id shoot pentax!!!!!! now if your old af lenses are not afs lense sthey will work on the consumer level dslr's but you lose auto focus.

nikon is overdue for some revamping of the line up. however between the flood in thailand and the earthquake and near nuke meltdown in Japan they like many other japanese companies have been hit hard.
