Unions have done a lot for the workers of this country but they need to stay out of the government and be given less control over a business. They should work with the Companies on behalf of the workers, not try to control them.

During my working years, I was only in a union from 1975-1985.
I do not ever recall being told how to vote or who to vote for. It wouldn't have made any difference anyway as I do my research and vote my own conscience.

Only 11.3% of Americans belong to Unions. This coincides with the decline of the middle class. Why do you credit them with so much power ?

They have that power because they are "forced" to vote Democratic by their leaders. That 11.3% becomes a much higher percentage of votes when compared to the percentage of "other" people who vote or do not vote. That, of course, is the unions right…unfortunately their votes are, to a large degree, for their own financial betterment and greed, not for the betterment of America. IMHO the larger the union, the more corrupt it is and the more damaging it is to the economy and business in general.

I have never worked under a Union but the Companies I have worked for always treated me good. My older Sister has worked for a Union and would beat up on me if I disagreed with her. Maybe that is why I don't like Unions.

And yes, If I did, I to would think for myself.

I'm neither pro or anti Unions. Some are beneficial and some are pretty corrupt.
However, I don't know how anyone can be "forced" to vote for a candidate against their wishes. Once you enter a voting booth no one knows how you marked your ballot, but you.

Nor to be sarcastic, but it's called "peer pressure". I experienced it when I 'had' to become a member of the CWA to work for NY Telephone. I don't know how they know, but they do. And, if you vote against them you there WILL be some form of retribution against you. I quit, many years ago, because of the CWA union. Basically thugs.
