Every morning it's the first thing we see. It was right outside our sliding glass door. I slept with camera by the bed. We woke up one morning just in time to see the 2nd one fly away. My wife said our kids are gone.

Hummers are very territorial so I don't know if you should leave the nest or get rid of it so as to attract more next year.

Another thought hummers migrate north for the summer so I would think you would be seeing them in fla. in the winter or very early spring. Perhaps you should place a feeder out for them as early as mid feb.

Wonderful little creatures! I have many here in RI. I put out about 6-10 feeders from the 3 rd week of April till they leave for the warmer weather. Some times I have more than 10-12 fighting for the sweet water... I have never found the nest of one, but I do put out dryer lint and they will take it for building materials. I just stick it in the Azeala bush and they find it...Wonderful to watch... thanks for the nice pics...

These little guys were shot outside my bedroom with a Nikon D90 and a Tamron 18-270 lens. They had to endure 3 days of bad rains. I felt sorry for them. They made the nest in a New Zealand tree fern.

Fantastic set!

Nice series. I've never been fortunate enough to find a nest. Lucky you!

Me either ... but it would be my luck that when and if I ever do ...being only 5'4" tall it would be so high up above my head that I wouldn't be able to get that view of it.
Go Go Gadget Legs LOL.

Hummer nest can be found in small trees about 4 or 5 feet above the ground
