The Wampanoag Indian tribe also has a re-creation of their village at Plimoth Plantation. They helped the Pilgrims survive their first winter and taught them how to plant corn in the spring.

I can't help you get here but I can send a little Mayflower history out to you. We share a common interest.

First Parish Church is located in Plymouth, MA. It was established by the Pilgrims and is the oldest church in America. The church was constructed by ship builders. You can see this in the ceiling. The ceiling is constructed like an upside down ship. Note there are no support columns anywhere in the church.

Many of the pilgrims who came over on the Mayflower are buried in the cemetery behind the church. The oldest graves had wooden headstones that deteriorated a long time ago.

Great set - the interior shot is superb..........

Thank you, sloonie. I had a lot of problems with lighting on the inside shot but I finally got it. I appreciate you looking and commenting.

Yes. I'm glad you liked them. They have a Pilgrim village set up with a fort and about a dozen houses representative of the early years. They also have a replica of the Indian village along the river. I showed you a picture of an Indian burning out a log to make a canoe. They actually completed a canoe and sent it to the Smithsonian for exhibit this summer.

Might be the oldest Protestant church but the first church was San Miguel Chapel built in Santa Fe, New mexico, founded in 1610.

Actually, that subject has already been addressed four times in this post so I won't bother to address it again.

Like the whole series but that INTERIOR shot...EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!! And surprisingly enough, I liked the history lesson. Pictures go very well when a BRIEF commentary is added. :D

Thank you, Chaser. The lighting drove me crazy on the interior shot but I finally got it. History was my worst subject in school and now I'm giving lessons. Go figure.

Thank you, Carolina. It's always good to hear from you.

I never mentioned this before but your Avatar reminds me of the actress, Angela Lansbury. Every time I see it, I think of Hello Dolly.

Oh thank you John...how sweet of you :-D

Yes - this is a great find and full of good history - I found a mid 1500's Catholic Church/Fort still in use in the mountains near Vera Cruz MX in 2000 ( North America)- just a simple alter and pews inside stone fortified walls, (very high) and few windows with scaffolds and gun slits. Dang I lost the interior photos (film) in my moves.
