Thanks to you all for your responses. This forum is great.
I have chosen one to print but you were all so great I'm not going to say which one it is. They were all spectacular. Thank you so much.

And the offensive poles are still there...

It would be great to read the OP request....

Or you could have read my reply more carefully before getting on your high horse. I stated, "I would try to do the cloning on this one for you, but I'm not very good at it :) "

Blasting Linda just makes your own deficiencies all the more glaring. So you've offered the OP a half done version that is still tilted and your cloning ability leaves much to be desired...hardly print worthy...Dorvaldude, quality work there, ready for printing.

I clearly stated in my response to OP that I would have attempted the cloning, but I'm not very good at it. Don't know what his problem was!

At the risk of sounding dumb......what are the OP requests.

I believe OP stands for originating poster, though I have never had that confirmed :) At any rate, it means the person who started this topic.

The rude one who said he wished people (or I) would read requests more carefully did not read MY reply carefully enough to see that I clearly stated I wasn't proficient at cloning.

I hope this is about what you had in mind and if you give it to your brother I hope he likes it. Give him my best wishes.

I've used Photoshop CS5. The bits that are missing were cloned out by enlarging the photo and selecting the source from as close as possible to the part to be removed. Then I painted along the pole or line reflection and the source point moved parallel to the brush point and replaced the point the brush was covering.

The sky was selected and the 'levels' adjusted to darken the sky in the selection.

I hope you don't feel it's overdone. I feel that it makes sense of the cloud reflections in the water. Let me know. I can have another go if you like.
Mike.

Did not do anything in the hill as they simply disappear in the background vs being prominent in the sky and water.

What utter rubbish.

You would do well to tone yourself down a bit.

You are not that good.

Plus you contradict yourself.

You have this seeming obsession with bit depth, pixel density and huge file sizes then you dismiss Jack47's request to remove the power lines as irrelevant because they "disappear in the background".

To Jack, to me and to everyone but yourself it seems, they stick out like the proverbials.

That is just a cop out and you attempted that whitewash purely to mask your deficiencies.

Cheerio, Rob.

Thanks. I want to get an enlargement for a brother who was there when I took the shot. It's going to be a Xmas gift, maybe his last since he is fighting cancer. He loved the shot and I did give him one of the originals.
The shot was taken in NL and there are so many Hydro poles and lines around almost every shot has to be fixed.
I need to get this one right since it is going to be blown up.

I'm fighting cancer too! dont give up on him!!

"maybe his last since he is fighting cancer. "
Keep fighting with him between GOD & the Dr's things can change what you said about it maybe being his last. never give up!

Inexpensive: Photoshop Elements 11 (and now 12) has a content-aware healing brush that would make it fairly easy to eliminate the power lines. This means that it will analyze what should be behind the object you remove and fill in an appropriate background for you. In practice it is not always that simple, but often it works miracles. The poles would probably be harder to do and would take longer. If you try the poles, be sure to work zoomed in, and very carefully, on a copy of your original. I often work alternating use of the healing brush and the cloning stamp, they are good partners to each other. It might be smart to practice your new skills on other photos first. If you get a result you don't want, just hit "undo" and try again.

This is a charming shot and a real motivator for you to enter the world of post processing. Please post it again after you work with it, I would love to see! Have fun!

Linda, your response was very clear to most of us. There are some people who look at these exchanges as competition instead cooperation. Too bad for them.

I lost my father and brother to cancer . And I fought cancer for 4yrs. I know from my experience that there is no guarantee how long some one will last with cancer . It takes time to learn how to use these photo restoring programs , that is why I did my attempt at removing the poles > so she had some thing NOW to send .

Thanks ncshutterbug. I don't have either but I will look into both. I do have Zoner but I don't think it does a very good job...or maybe it's just me. :-)

ZPS is a great program. Read in the help section because it will does this. However, what you want to remove is part of the landscape and may not need to removed. In my thinking, that would alter the photo to be something that it wasn't.
