I've been gone to S.D. for the last 4 days and seen a lot of things. These were taken especially for Sue. They claim them to be wild, but I got out of the car and fed them by hand.
Just did not have enough carrots to go around.
:(

Doubt if i could stay on for 8 seconds as the cowboys do.

Me, thinks we're in Trouble!
2 Shorties, we are.

It was more than a welcomed surprise. I love animals so darn much and to be able to get out and touch them and just be with them made my day.

Marilyn

If you had said you didn't feed then by hand that would have been a surprise,
but telling us you did feed them by hand was not, lovely pictures from a great week-end eh!?
Thanks for sending, What's next?

I'm sure the experience equaled the photos, which are wonderful. It's a happy occurrence when you find animals in the wild that aren't afraid of humans.
I'm 5'8" so I could have probably made it up on one of them but I don't think I would have tried. Just being able to touch them would be enough. You were so lucky.

Great shots Marilyn. It's possible these were raised on a ranch and turned loose as so often happens with feral animals. They're fat and happy and their hooves are in good shape. With people stopping to offer treats, what more could they want?

If they were turned loose from someone's ranch (or escaped a fence?) ....and they were so unafraid of people, chances are they may have even been ridden in the past who knows? I think I might have been tempted to see if they were willing to let me try!.....very carefully, of course!

Thanks for the pics ! They made me think of when I was a kid and we used to try to ride the 'wild' donkeys with a string tied around their necks . Good thing we were young enough to still bounce .
