Hello from Cali! Fornia that is! My name is Karen, and I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY! I also just recently fell in LOVE with Vintage and antique Jewelry. I have been doing a lot of research on many types and have purchased a tabletop photo studio which has saved me countless hours of photographing my pieces. I am also in the process of making a nice website to show and sell them!
I am so hoping someone will have some suggestions for me on ALL OF IT. Photos. Props. Website. Selling. Buying. Just anything. I love sag advice and constructive criticism, from more experienced folks.
Hope to meet you all soon!
Take care,
Karen

Hello Karen and welcome to the UHH. What kind of camera and lens are you going to be using for these jewelry shots?

Welcome to the forum Karen, I have been in the antique business for almost 50 yrs , now I am an antique. I all depends on what type of camera you have and type of Lens. A good green screen , photo box with lights , etc can streamline the process and is very inexpensive, I use a 11-16 lens f 2.8 for close up work, you can set up various lighting , so with a little practice you should do just fine, set up your own website and sell away! Just ask us here and you will get plenty of great answers. Good Luck.
Hi Karen !
I too am new to this forum but have been watching before joining. From what I've seen I think it is great.
I reply to you because I saw your interest in Vintage Jewelry and that happens to be my main interest. In my business I deal mainly with Estate dealers that have jewelry that needs repair or restoration. I use a Laser exclusively for this work and you can see an example of a restoration on my avatar.
That piece was commissioned in 1903 by the Czarista of Russia as a gift to the Czar as a personal gift. When it came to me the top was partially destroyed and I was able to bring it back. It is a clock and is 6" in height with the lid closed.
I really understand the attraction of old period pieces and people that also have that interest. Any time I can help you, please contact me.
