I have a Canon MG6250 A4 printer and a Canon ix6550 - they both use the same cartridges 6 on the A4 printer and 5 on the A3 printer.
I have used compatible cartridges for years without any problems whatsoever.
I currently buy mine through ebay @ 6 for £5 - brilliant product!!
The supplier is:

The question of inks and prices crop up regularly but I have found using inks by Jet Tec does OK for me,But I do not know in what other countries they are available. They are made apparently in Switzerland
If you are using a Canon printer with Canon paper, you have to use Canon ink. The paper is designed to print correctly using only their ink and you'll get a lot of "unusual" art projects otherwise.

I am getting tired of paying through the nose for Canon printer ink. There are several places on-line where you can get "compatible" Canon ink cartridges for a fraction of the cost.
Have any of you fellow hogs used these for pictures with good results? If so, which brand/supplier do you recommend?
I have saved all my empty Canon cartridges and could refill them myself. Have any of you successfully done this? What do you do about the chip?
Also, have you found that the third party ink damages your printer?
I am torn between continuing to pay very high prices for "genuine" Canon ink and trying the compatible inks.

RJ: You've either been brainwashed by Canon, or you work for them ??
It is only important to use the same ink mfgr consistently.
Until your monitor and printer are calibrated - ANY ink mfgr will produce colors that don't match what you see on your monitor.
Once you calibrate your system - and create your monitor and printer profiles - then it is only important to stick with the ink you did the calibration with.
Otherwise if you change inks, you'll likely want to tweak your profiles a bit.
The paper you choose may also have some effect - so ditto the above for sticking with the same paper you used for calibration.

MIS Inks usd them for years.
I recycle my used ink cartridges at Staples, and receive $2 per cartridge, this is applied to my Staples rewards card. Staples sends $$ off coupons each month that I use to get discounts on ink cartridges I have to have for a "Print now printing job"
If Staples does not have the ink cartridge in stock they will ship it, Staples price is the same as the OEM prices for Canon and Epson cartridges.
I also purchase replacement cartridges from CarrotInk if I do not needs them immediately. @

Some of the newer printers will not print if one cartridge is empty.
It helps to print a few photos on your printer or printers each week, the prints don't have to be large i.e. 8x10" it is a good idea or practice to exercise the printer and make sure it is working when you don't have that "Gotta have it now, I am on a dead line and I needed a print an hour ago.

I have a Pro 9000 and have been using ink from
www.printcountry.com and have never had a problem. The results are fine. I also use Canon ink and don't notice any difference. Never a clog with printcountry inks. They always send coupons and also offer free shipping from time to time. They ship very quickly and you can actually call them and speak to a person rather quickly.
