Several unions are advertising on the radio around here against Obamacare. Their issues are shortening the work week, not being able to choose their own doctors, etc.

polls rely on a small sampling of the population - all major polls. Most people never get polled.

The Kaiser Foundation just did a poll and the results are conclusive: a majority of Americans want ObamaCare. All the talk from the Right about how this is not true is nonsense.

If that's true, and I stress the IF... it may be because the 'majority' are now unemployed or not looking for jobs, y'think? THAT majority would certainly want 'something for nothing', but Lord, what a surprise they have coming!

Just yesterday I saw that with Obamacare comes 29 new taxes including a tax when you sell your home. This from a man who won't raise taxes on the middle class. It seems to me that from needing a couple of simple fixes from the insurance companies such as: allow Americans to purchase insurance across state lines, tell insurance companies to stop pre-existing conditions, some tort reform and possibly one other item that we would be doing OK. But then the government, Obama, got involved and decided on the Socialist way of government. Congress could have simply passed laws to take care of the above or worked out something with the insurance companies. Now we have a law that nobody understands. Doctors are leaving the medical field, exemptions are increasing for favored friends, the unions do not want Obamacare, the Federal government does not want Obamacare. This is a law that was rammed down the throat of the American public. I'm just sayin...

does the logic and common sense group really believe that a law passed by both houses of congress is shoving something down your throat?

When it is all one party voting "aye" and all of the other party voting "nay", the answer to your question is YES.

Let me get this straight. You want the same people that took a monopoly, The US Postal Service, & turned it into a multi billion dollar a year loser, you want the people that have spent every excess dollar of social security collected until they have turned it into a financial nightmare, and throw in Medicare and those billions of dollars year in losses, please tell me you are not that STUPID to think they are not going to ruin & bankrupt the US Healthcare System with Obamacare.

Usually government run programs leave a lot to be desired. That being said who has a better idea that will afford all the uninsured and underinsured people ot this country with adequate health insurance? Do we just ignore our low income folks because they can't get a job that will allow them to afford good healthcare? I am a long way from being a Communist or a Socialist or even a liberal. However I don't believe in throwing those less fortunate than I have been in life under the bus. There must be someone out there with an idea on how to set up a program more efficient than the Obama program will be. If so present it to those in power and try to get it implemented otherwise don't knock what is already in motion if you can't come up with something better.

One of the interesting things about a past pole is that the rightwing folks claim only a minority of Americans want ObamaCare. They claim the rest of Americans don't like it. This is a distortion. When you take into account the percentage of Americans who wanted A STRONGER OBAMACARE instead of what was passed, this swings the percentage of Americans who want ObamaCare in one form or another into the majority.

Anyway, it has been passed, it is going into effect, and we will have it. (Gloat, gloat, gloat)

I don't know about this addictinfo.org site, but I would bet it is some liberal right wing organization. Here is the official Kaiser Foundation website date August, 2013, that talks about the poll they conducted.
http://kff.org/health-reform/poll-finding/kaiser-health-tracking-poll-august-2013/

It is very long but about half way down it says:

"Opinion On ACA Continues To Tilt Negative, But Majority Disapproves Of Defunding

Public opinion on the ACA as a whole continues to tilt negative this month, with 37 percent saying they have a favorable view of the law and 42 percent expressing an unfavorable view, shares that have held relatively steady since February of this year."

What Richard94611 is talking about is that most (51%) don't agree with defunding the ACA. More people have an unfavorable view of Obamacare than have a favorable view.

"This moves us closer to socialized medicine with every step. Talk to someone from Canada, let them tell you about scheduling elective surgeries, not cosmetic, but elective."

Thank goodness!! I am ecstatic about 'socialized medicine.' I chuckle at folks that say, "Talk to someone from Canada," because you're right. When a person has no insurance at all, believe me, there are no scheduling difficulties; their only true option is not to have it done! I just underwent a 'simple' colonoscopy in the good old USA. For that procedure (which took 9 minutes and 11 seconds from terminal ileum to rectum, it cost over $15,000 - and that doesn't include the cost of pathology, etc.

So, in the end, when the choice is being inconvenienced and maybe having to wait (BTW, I waited 4 months for an available slot for the colonoscopy) to have a procedure done OR not having the procedure at all, I guess I'll take a little inconvenience. Canadians DO have the option that if they don't want to wait, they can always cough up the cash and jump to the head of the line - just like in the USA. Money talks; if you have it, you have a big mouth. If you don't, you're silenced. Democracy at its finest. But at least now, the 'silent majority' will have medical treatment available to them that was not available to them before.

In Vermont, we have a bumper sticker that says, "Don't complain about farmers while your mouth is full." The next one should say, "Don't complain about having to wait for a procedure with your insurance card in your pocket." Until you have lived without health insurance long enough to have paid for every stitch of your healthcare out of your own pocket, you really have no idea what you're talking about.

Yes and people complain about folks that are on that and it doesn't cover those that have too much income but not enough to afford health insurance. There is a dividing line and make $1.00 over it and you are turned down. Usually the ones that complain the loudest are those that can afford the best.
