Another way to get blur in water or other moving media is to shoot multiple shots and stack them. Gives you more control

On download, comparing the two HDR shots, the log is sharper in the auto HDR shot and the clouds seem to have a bit more contrast. Apart from that, there doesn't seem to be much in it - they're both beautiful.

The HDR did do a nice job on the sunrise colors. But I still like the possibilities of creativity with the 10 stop.

Thanks falome  But did you notice how the long exposure changed the way the light falls on the lake?

I like it too. I am excited to do some more experimenting. No, It's a B+W SCREW on filter. the Lees slide into an apparatus, which is much more convenient. I too wanted to order a Lee, but it's out of stock, and I wanted to do this now. So, I am going to wait for the Lee one. I do want to get Lee filters. This one is a very good quality filter, but there is the inconvenience of having to focus, and then screw on the filter. I will post a running water pic I took with it.

really like the way you captured this

This is not an earth shattering sunrise photo. The composition is rather boring, but I shot the sunrise 2 different ways this morning, and thought the effects were interesting. I do not expect "That's a great sunrise, Nightski". I'm looking for questions, ideas, thoughts on what I did.

The first one I used the HDR setting on my new camera in auto HDR. I let the camera auto select the shutter speed parameters.

The second I used teh HDR setting, but set my own parameters at +2.

The third is a 2 minute exposure with my 10 stop B&W screw on filter. I thought, what the heck, I have it focused already so I may as well put it on and see what happens.
