[quote=mickeyv]I liked the fact that you clicked on "store original". This allows meta data to be analyzed. Your picture looks like it was zoomed in a lot. Not a lot there to criticize. Just a blimp. David

Meives, I wanted folks to check the EXIF data so they could make their own determination on how good the SX50HS is. I love it!

Alaskan, The tight framing is due to my trying to fill the frame "in camera". The problem with the nose is that I believe the camera moved slightly when I pressed the shutter release (handheld).

I have been a member for a few months, but have never posted before. After reading and seeing many wonderful photos using the Canon SX50HS, I decided to get one and see what I could get from it. I normally use a Sony A77 and I wanted a walk around opportunity camera. The SX50 is better than I had expected. The attached photo was taken this morning (27 Aug 2013) 0715. I shot at ISO 100, 1/500 sec, f/5.6, 2150 mm (almost 100x using the optical zoom feature). Photo was hand held. Comments, etc. are welcome. Bye the way, these Aerostats are used for watching the Mexican boarder from California to Texas. This one is located in Sierra Vista, AZ.

So why did you zoom in that close???? The basic of composition is to leave a bit of breathing space all around your subject for more reasons than one. If you end up with too much of boring space you can always crop during PP."The problem with the nose" is not necessarily due to the camera movement,I bet the image stabilization is the real culprit.IS works by moving the sensor in the moment of exposure,if you try bracketing you will really notice the shift .
