I shot some super moon pics, but I had a small tripod which was too light for my lens so I just brought a new tripod, waiting for the next full moon, praying for clear skies. Shooting with Canon 7D

Looks like your all ready, Good luck. Try to get it when its not quite full. The shadows bring out more details.

Yes the lens and tripod are quite heavy! I might have to get a new truck to haul them around! LOL! Hal, I shot that partial on the 17th of july. With the new tripod it is a lot more stable. James, I got this lens as part of the package deal when I purchased my Canon 7D. there is no AF but with the Tee mount converter it is easy to change lenses. The thing I had to get used to was mounting the camera on the lens not the lens on the Camera. It makes a good spotting lens .

Did you get the 2X teleconverter in the deal?

Your pictures of the moon convinced me to buy the lens you have. I have taken a few moon shots but not like yours,

QueenBee, I am very happy with it. I brought Te adapters with it so I can use it on both my pentax's and Canon's. I had good results with my Pentax film camera's too. Just have to get used to the manual focus. But once I am focused I use my remote or cable!

I have the Vivitar version of that lens with 2x converter.Haven't had much sucess with it. It is a bear to focus. Moon going to be full in a oouple of days. Going to try my new Sigma 15-500 with teleconverter.

I know it doesn't auto focus but in the old days before digital cameras I had to manually focus my camera. Next moon cycle I will put up some moon pics using my new lens. I would like to see some of your pics

I've seen this lense on ebay for about $300.00 the price made it very tempting. What do you honestly think of this lens? I'd be using it on my Canon T3? Thank you
