Since I am mostly housebound now, I spend my time playing with my pictures on my PC. On a recent outing, I took some shots round about an old harbour nearby.
On looking at the results, I was fascinated with the depth of field apparent.
Taken from Banff Northeast Scotland, with Macduff in the background. The stone topping the parapet is local red granite.
Used easy HDR to process.
The parapet of the old harbour nearest the camera was approximately 200 yards away. However, the tall tower towards the left was about 3/4 mile away.
Three images were taken handheld auto bracket on a Canon SX50.
Correct Exposure
ISO 125 for all shots
focus : 51mm
Shots were :
correct :
f : 5.6
t: 1/640
under :

t : 1/1000
over : 1/320

Thanks for the kind comment. I hope the detail will help others, even though the camera was on auto, the information is telling.

Excellent shot Nairiam.
Coming from you angler, it is accepted as a very kind Comment. Thank you.
nairiam I really like how that turned out. everything from the focal point to the clouds were in the right spot :)
Have you read Trey Ratcliff's HDR guide? I'd like to get into that but my camera does not do the autobracket. Again nice shot and like the way it turned out.

Thanks for your kind comments. Anything I've picked up about HDR I read online. I've tried various free downloads to see for myself how things would look.
The exaggerated HDR is not for me, although I admire many of them. I have manually bracketed in the past but a tripod is essential and a lot of care taken.
Thanks for looking.
erpatterson78 you dont need autobracketing. just shoot in RAW, then under and over expose in lightroom saving each as an image, he presto bracketed images

I've tried this, but working in RAW seems to be hard work for me. I'm not sure why because I don't find other programs daunting, just the likes of Photoshop does much more than I require. I believe if I wanted bells and whistles I'd go for GIMP.
However I do appreciate your comment very much.
There is a Glasgow artist, who's work I admire, called Avril Patten and this image reminds me of her work, Nice one nairiam
