You also can add to your list swans. Swimming eagle is an odd sight, kind like an oversized duck with eagle`s head. If they underestimate the size of the fish and get their talons in the fish will drown them. Thanks, Ivan.[/quote]

Ah, yes, I forgot the swans. My brother-in-law used to own the largest waterfowl farm in the US and he has Mute Swans, Black Swans and Black-Neck Swans along with every kind of waterfowl imaginable. They all mate for life. He gave us many different kinds of waterfowl. The Peacocks thought they should be able to follow them into the pond. :D

Hello Alaskan,
I can just say "WOW"! ! ! Great work. Thanks for sharing. I know there are a lot of eagles up there in Alaska, but to be able to get that kind of photo is better than very good!

Squirl033, yes, you're right, we have them here, but not as many. I saw three juveniles playing in the wind today. I live on a ridge near Maple Valley and when the wind blows from the north, I'm likely to see them riding the updraft above the Cedar River.
Here's a picture I took a few years ago of two Eagles in a snag above a Japanese Maple in my garden. A friend suggested that it looked as if they were guarding a marijuana patch.
Ivan, keep those beautiful pictures coming.
Mike

We are downriver about 250 miles but come to the St. Louis area often. May take you up on that trip toward Alton.

All your eagle photographs are stunning. As many others here, I love the bald eagle. It has been my favorite bird since I was 12. I can't wait for my first sighting "in the wild". Some of my neighbors say they have seen them but I have not.
I have watched the ones we have at the zoo and a few yrs ago they were nesting. As I stood and watched them, they "talked" to each other and since they both sit on the eggs I got to watch them switch. It was such a sweet thing to see. They touched beaks as if they were kissing and then lovingly traded places. I will never forget that sight. It was so touching it brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you for sharing your photographs of these amazing raptors. When I return home after the weekend I intend to find more of your eagle photographs! Have a great 2012!

Janice, if you are near Ky Lake, you should see many Eagles this winter. I usually see them in Tn, but I live on the Ky state line and many people from the Ky side who have cabins on the lake, say they see them there all winter.

Horseart, I am about 2 and a half hours from Kentucky Lake. It may be worth a trip though. If I can find the time.
