Tuesday's Moon

First time seriously attempting to photograph the moon.
Out of 17 exposures, this one's the best. Actually better than I was expecting, considering that I'm using a zoom lens and not a telescope.

Exposure Time: 1 / 40
FNumber: 8
Focal Length: 300mm
ISO Speed: 100
Using Tripod and cable release.

Comments and additional images are welcome.

I have tried getting a moon shot and they never come out right. I know the camera I have probably is not good enough to take pictures of the moon but I have fun trying. That is a great shot of the moon.

I wasn't able to get a shot worth posting until I got my 300mm zoom lens. Even at that, the image posted here is enlarged to its maximum size before it starts to pixilate (the camera sensor is 12 mega pixels).

I think I might look for an adapter for my telescope and see what kind of results I can get with that. Of course that's a whole 'nother level of difficulty. :)

Very nice photo. That one is a nice crisp shot. I love crescent moons -- like a dainty jewel in the sky. I was hoping for a view of the sky earlier this week because Venus was to be in close proximity at late dusk, but up where I live on the UP of Michigan, we get more overcast than not. Astronomy Magazine has a free weekly e-newsletter that gives a heads-up on potentially good sky shots.
