Hi. I live in Delaware and have been a shooter for >30yrs. Love my D800 but still lament the demise of film. Like to travel (mostly US) and do scenics. Hoping some folks here can suggest locations when I get the urge to "safari-out."

Welcome aboard. All 50 (or 57 according to Obama) states have something worthwhile to photograph. Just pick your pleasures!

Welcome. Acadia National Park offers many landscape/seascape photo ops and is very nice in the Fall after kids are back in school.

Hi,
I have live here in Oregon all of my life. Like you, I enjoy traveling. Not sure if you have been out this way. You mentioned US and scenic. Well the Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway would be right up your alley. There is so much to photograph. Waterfalls galore, wildlife, windsurfers on the Columbia River, follow route of the Oregon Trail. Within a two to three hour drive you can photograph anything from desert highlands, Mt. Hood or he Oregon Coast. The city of Portland sits pretty much in the middle of Mt. Hood and the pacific coast. A hour and a half drive to the beach. An hour to the mountain. Go southeast and you have Crater Lake and The Oregon Caves. The sand dunes on the southern Oregon coast are also pretty impressive. If you have already visited our state, well I guess I am preaching to the choir and I apologize. As I mentioned I have lived here all of my life. Soon my wife and I are are going to the Painted Hills in eastern Oregon. Its a crap shoot to photograph. But if we luck out we should get some nice photos. There are also some ghost towns near by so we might take a look.

Good luck with your adventures and happy shooting.

John
